This 196 S Recreation is being auctioned this weekend in Japan. The auction verbiage is typical and not accurate, but it will be interesting to see what happens. It has been quite some time since one of these was up for sale. I don’t understand the Registration Documents, but they look cool.

This is a replica of the Ferrari Dino 196 S, a sports prototype made in 1959 which can now likely reach eight figures. Only 3 were produced but this replica is Ferrari certified and has various documents to show this.
Although this is a replica, the quality of the workmanship is incredible. The body, engine and frame have been reproduced to the smallest details. The number of replicas produced is believed to be very small, and there are no other replicas in Japan. The body is a continuation of the design of the 250 Testa Rossas, which gave Ferrari several victories, it’s a Barchetta-style body, which was popular in the late 50s-early 60s. It was designed by Pinin Farina and made by Medardo Fantuzzi.
This replica preserves its breath-taking beauty and has a real Ferrari history aura. It’s powered by a V6 with striking exhausts running along both sides of the car. The cockpit is bare metal, and a simple look at the pedals give a clear indication that this is a racing car. The leather seats are as good as new and the car looks as if it has just come out of the factory.
While Ferrari was known for their V12s, the Dino 196 S features a 2-litre V6. This engine was an idea worked on for many years by Enzo Ferrari’s eldest son, Alfredo, who died when he was just 24 years old. Despite his death, work on the V6 continued and Vittorio Jano took over the V6 project. The engine was named after Alfredo whose nickname was “Dino” and was installed in various cars including the 196 S. The engine proved to have great performance and cars with this engine proudly carried the “Dino” emblem. This replica has a 2.4-litre engine and the six carburettor trumpets make it instantly recognisable as a “Dino”.
The 196 S is one of the rarest Ferraris, and a legendary piece of Ferrari history that encapsulates Enzo's love for Alfredo. This car is not just for a Ferrari fan but for a motorsport fan who wants a car that has captured some of the essence of Ferrari’s racing history.

I particularly like ".............this replica is Ferrari certified........."!! HAHAHA.

The documents shown are an old Italian Libretto (Registration) from Modena for license plate MO 61570, issued 10 December 1960.
This is from a Ferrari 250 GT which must have been butchered and abused as donor car for this poor replica.

I wonder if they will find a victim for this complete fake.

Has absolutely nothing to do with an ultra rare 196 S.
These old papers are almost more valuable than this replica.

I don’t like replicas, be it this car, a Shelby or a Rolex. This car is the complete opposite of a no excuses car with the main problem being it is not a Ferrari.

I admit, I am biased, but very interested to see where this goes if anywhere.

Not trying to pretend anything, but what an awesome experience for a car that never really drives in its original form.
