http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4506947791&category=42606 IS this correct for the 206? Anyone need one? DM
this is not a 206 wheel. the 206 had a wooden wheel much like the ones seen on other 60's vintage ferrari's. i doubt this is actually a ferrari wheel, it looks like some aftermarket job.
This is an original Dino wheel. My first Dino - 2832 -European model 1972 - had this Momo wheel with holes along the spokes, with leather grip - as pictured. Jim S.
the wheel i have has holes in it and a leather grip, but does not lookk like this wheel. this wheel has three holes in each spoke, a proper dino wheel has two holes. this wheel is black, a proper dino wheel is brushed "aluminum". this wheel has a much thicker grip than a proper dino wheel. are you certain your wheel looked exactly like this?
this interior shot shows a "proper" dino wheel. i found the pics in the showroom section under a "show me your dino" type category. isn't this more like the wheel in your original car? none the less, the ebay wheel is DEFINITELY not for a 206.
her is a more "correct" dino 206 wheel. this picture is taken from micheal sheehan's site showing a 206 that he has for sale. it is more in line with what one should expect for a 206.
the horn button should say "dino" and not ferrari. i just realized the 246 photo i posted has a ferrari horn button.
I just took a walk outside to look at my Dino - I had two Dinos- now have one. The first (Euro) purchased in 1978, sold in 1993. The second (U.S.) acquired in 1980, sitting outside as I write these observations. The U.S. car has a MOMO "Prototipo" wheel, brushed aluminium, with black leather grip. The side spokes have 2 holes, the middle (6 o'clock) spoke has 3 holes. Jim S.
do you have any pics that you could post? clearly, you have had the car a long time and it would be unlikely that an aftermarket wheel was fitted pre-1980. i have never seen a dino wheel as you describe.
here is a pic of a "ferrari" momo prototipo wheel. it fits your desription. however, i have never seen a wheel such as this fitted to any dino by the factory. i do not know if the factory ever fitted such a wheel, as the factory did what was neccessary to finish a car. is this the wheel your car has?
I have seen Dinos fitted with both the silver spoked Momo Prototipo as described and the Momo Cavallino. Here is a picture of a silver prototipo. Early Cavallinos actually had a Cavallino Rampante on the lower spoke. best rt
And finally - here is a link to the 206 repro wheel sold by the Re-Original folks. http://www.reoriginals.com/Images/Ns/N0166.gif
Russ Turner (snj5), in his previous comment, has posted a picture of my wheel - brushed aluminum, 2 holes left and right, 3 holes at 6 o'clock spoke, "Prototipo" MOMO engraved. As I recall, my Euro 2832 had a MOMO, black aluminum, with Clay Regazonni (Sp?) signature. This is a stretch for me to remember, but it did have someone's signature engraved. Thank you. Jim S.
