    Good day all,

Forgive my last post, as for some reason, it went awry...

This last weekend I saw a very nice 1968 Dino 206GT here in Alberta and so I took some pics as well as copied some info for all of you that might be interested.

    Car Numbers:
    Chassis: 00280
    Engine: 135 B 000
    Ferrari: N93 000 4938
    Body Stamping 89
    Transaxle: M.92

The car has been in Canada since 1974 and is now residing in Alberta. From the current owner's info on the car:
-apparently the car was once owned by David Cronenberg who had crashed the car.
-The nose was damaged and a 246 (steel) nose was used to repair the car.
-"An alloy nose, hand built in the U.S. was recently found and is now on the car to complete its restoration".
-The car has its tool roll, dino document pouch, both manuals, emergency triangle. The car's engine has been recently rebuilt as well as repainted.

The car does show well, but I found the paint a little weak given that it was recently repainted (no orange peel, but very light in places, slight overspray within the engine bay, and a fair number of swirl marks throughout). Overall I found the body to be very straight and I would consider it to be an excellent driver. It was started for a short while and I must say that it sounded fantastic!

The car was at an auction where its high bid was $125K CAN and was not sold.

Anyway, here are some pics for all to see.

    Cheers,

    Sam

I agree with your assessment of the car.

The lighting in the hockey arena was not kind to the car, the color seemed a little to pink for my liking and it certainly needed to be buffed properly, the swirl marks were really bad. I wanted to bring that car home and have known the owner for many years, it is a great car, especially now that there is an aluminum nose back on it. I was the high bidder on the car and asked after it left the block, $175 is the price. It is still available.

    Good day,

Indeed, the lighting was quite poor. Even so, the car did looked nice and straight!

I, too, wanted the car. I did not participate in the bidding, as the paint quality and the previous "injury" was a worry for me. Although the owner really seemed to a very nice and honest gentleman, given the current repaint quality I would be concerned that whoever did the restoration paint/body-work may have taken some short cuts with the nose fitment and/or previous damage repair... which would not be evident until one was to perform a full restoration quality paint job... which would be something I would do... as well as some light resto work within the engine bay, etc.

As for you, were you the fellow that purchased the 67 Black Convertible? If so, I was sitting right behind you.

    Cheers,

    Sam

A fellow from California bought the Camaro, he was the only other bidder on the Dino at $110. I hope the car stays here.

    Good day,

Indeed, it would be great if the car did stay here. Since you know the owner, perhaps you can influence him to release the car to you for a more attractive price? Some friendly persuasion perhaps :) ? Although... given that the owner has really enjoyed this car (35000 KMs during his tenure) he may not wish to part with it once our driving season officially starts!

Best of luck with your persuasion!

    Cheers,

    Sam
