The proportions and angles simply don't work as a Spyder. To me it's one of those projects that seemed like it would work in your head, but once done, doesn't look as good as you imagined it would. The Mondial, whilst not perfect, works better as a convertible than this 308 GT4 Spyder - in fact, the convertible Mondial works better than the coupe Mondial to me
Hahahahahaha Huh, aside from the strangely shaped side air intakes, I didn’t think it was that horrible. - Dave
I had one like that too. A 1500 cc, nice little car that drove like a cart. On the other hand, it rusted as quickly as it drove
In the day, the joke amongst my fellow X1/9 owners was that the TR7 looked like an X1/9 with a bad case of the mumps.
Interesting car Lee....late body with early bumpers....never seen the plastic spoiler used with the early bumpers....but then I've been out of the X scene for a few years, looks good. Funny about the rust-thing....never was a problem with either of my cars, both of which were driven year-round in the PNW; one of them as my ski car for a couple of years! - Dave
The grown up X1/9 - the Rainbow! If I had all the moneys I would create the GT4 collection with this, the LM and chassis no 1. I might buy that whacked out one with all the goofy body mods from the early 2000's just to remove all that crap ceremoniously. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I got it off Cars and Bids like it sits. The previous owner babied it. It’s like new, he even added leather interior.
Very cool car, you got to love Italian styling. But I am really digging on that space sute she has own.

Nice! Of pertinence to this thread: https://95octane.com/2023/07/02/autobianchi-runabout-bertone-concept/ The Bertone and Pininfarina concepts of the mid-60's to mid-70's is an area of special interest to me, with a focus on the Pinifarina/Ferrari PF Modulo, Pininfarina/Ferrari 512S Speciale, and Bertone/Lancia Stratos Zero. These represent peak, out-there, Italian creativity and design to me and I have press kits and photos, specialty literature, and other promotional items related to these models. I actually drove from Seattle to Monterey - wife and 9 month-old daughter in tow - to attend Pebble Beach in '93. Pininfarina was the honored marque and they brought the Pinifarina/Ferrari prototipos PF Modulo, 512S Speciale, P6, Sigma Grand Prix, and Dino 206 Competizione to the US for the first time. It's almost a religious experience seeing a true one-of-one car - as opposed to a regular production car labeled as a "one-off" because it happens to have some weird and rare colorway or combination of options - and it actually kind of ruined me as far as being impressed by even rare road and hyper cars today. As if that wasn't enough, this car was also on the lawn that year: https://www.***************.com/chassis/1465/Ferrari-250-LM-Pininfarina-Stradale-Speciale-6025.html I don't remember the gentleman's name now that owned it, but he graciously accommodated my twenty-something year-old self as it was all I could do to keep from slobbering all over his priceless one-off. Of note is the fact that there were no ropes, no stanchions, no signs warning of guard dogs or private security on duty, just the guy and his car! At this point, Ferrari ownership was many, many years in my future, but to this day I try to uphold his memory, even when chatting with others about my lowly 308. I have to wonder if whomever owns 6025 today would be so accommodating to the masses. - Dave
Actually the star of, and, listed for sale in, either the Neiman-Marcus or Hammacher Schlemmer Christmas catalogs one year! - Dave
…and its €325,000 MSRP is probably close to what the original Runabout prototipo cost to produce too. - Dave
