    Hi

I have a small problem on a Dino 246 with adjusting the rear trunk/boot lid.
I have even gone as far as taking the hinges right off.
I can get the lid to line up with the seams via up and down slots in the hinge but I need to get the whole lid to push forward about 4 to 5mm.
I can't seem to achieve this adjustment has anyone come across this before.

I went as far as laying down in the luggage area with a torch and I'm 6'2" so it was a tight squeeze.

Thanks in advance for any help

Can you give us some history?
Did you have some work done and now the lid doesn't fit whereas before it did?
Did you just get this car and don't know what the history is?

The dino has belonged to my friend for around 35 years. It has been apart and been repainted in that time because it was yellow and now its red.
I have been assisting in getting it into a road worth and sensible condition (not concours)
The gap is just wrong the lid used to sit high and close badly I can find the adjustment to bring height up and down but it protrudes about 5 or 6mm beyond the rear wings and this looks wrong.
In the time I have been working on the car the lid has never looked right.

if you remove the hinges and place the lid in position does it fit?
With all gaps to your liking?

it eliminates a couple of things, which is good.
next some pictures of the hinges, are they original to the car?
are they damaged in any way?
take them off and look at the mounting points any sign of damage there?

The problem may not be in the hinges but in the positioning of the latch assembly. If the position is not correct the cone shaped piece that is on the trunk lid will guide the trunk lid out of alignment as it closes. Even good factory hinges are fairly sloppy so a less than perfect alignment of the latch pin wil skew the lid.

A way to test this is to smear some grease evenly on the cone part of the pin and close the lid. Once open inspect the cone and if one side is wiped clean while the other is untouched that is your indication to make some adjustments.

I suspect the problem is one of fettling with the mechanism which is much easier and cheaper than body work that is buggered up.
