I am surprised no one has piped up about this M Series 246gt on eBay. (I have no skin in this game). It looks like a pretty solid car - originally white, now Nero black, sold Crepaldi, then eventually made its way to the U.S., and now (apparently) in Victoria, BC. And, it has covered headlights, if you are into that, along with a Becker Mexico radio.

Would look great in its original white livery.

There's so many things wrong with this car (from a correctness perspective); bumpers, steering wheel, gauges, seats, firewall, crossover fuel pipe, air box nuts, ignition system, air intake hoses, engine looks more like an E-series (dual oil filler caps). Is this so late in the M-series that it has many E-series attributes?

The first thing that hit me (so to speak) was the front bumpers. My car is 01458, and my front bumpers are completely different and correct for an M series. According to ebay, it was completely restored in the 1980s. What condition was it in before the restoration that required so many incorrect parts be substituted? Some of us may be obsessive nit-pickers, me included, but I'm sure many people would be happy to have that car in their garage.

The pictures of the car do answer a question I had. There are two styles of ANSA decals, and if the decals are correct for that car, then I know which to get for my car.

Still looks like a correct M series engine to me. The dual oil filler caps can be misleading. I have seen other late M series engines with dual oil fillers. I believe Ferrari started to put them on - at least on some of the cars - at the very end of the M series production.

Looks like a very good solid car. It would not take all that much to correct the items you mention if so inclined. Or it could be driven and enjoyed as is. The late Euro bumpers are the best looking of all the Dino bumpers. The headlight covers look good and are nicely fitted. Also, the neatly installed crossover pipe is far superior to the original flimsy, sagging plastic Cavis hose. Much safer too, being so close to the red hot exhaust headers. "Correctness" is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion.

I think it looks like a very solid car, and I also think it looks great. If the mechanicals check out, I wouldn't think a purchaser would need or want to change anything for a while, unless the purchaser is an OCD type.

I am walking away from the car for a more honest car with more paper trail and hopefully a long time ownership.

"More honest"? What do you think is dishonest about the car? Or is there something that you think is "dishonest" in the ads, the eBay listing, or that the dealer is dishonest?

We know it was repainted, had work done, and found a fair amount of info about prior owners. So, what was particularly dishonest?

What I mean about honest car is the entire laundry list, paint, synchros, steerings, gauges and so on. 3 auction in 3 years is not great for any car. Besides, I can't get any information if the engine has been recently rebuilt. Yet alone a compression check from the seller. If I pay in the mid 2's for a Dino then I expect all these to be correct.
In the 3' it would have to be minty with books papers.....
I have restored a dino 2 years ago and I know what is required to bring one back to collectors standard and this is not one of them. Not as easy as it looks.
The seller Tom and Robert are super great guys and would love to do business with them. Simply was not met to be. That's all.
