First shot to Ferrari Chatters and it is posted in FerrariAds. I have owned this Dino over the past year. Previous owner 32 years. It has <35,000 miles, rebuilt motor (needed to assess condition of the motor due to alloy plug in head suffering from some corrosion and leaking coolant - motor was like new internally, I had installed new rings, bearings, chains, freeze plugs, etc.), rebuilt heads (valves, seats, guides, all new alloy plugs), new ignition switch, new clutch/pressure plate, resurfaced flywheel, rebuilt coolant system completely, rebuilt alternator, rebuilt distributor, new muffler, new brake hoses, and etc.... I removed the emissions equipment, but kept all parts. I have receipts totalling over 12k in parts and machine shop labor. I used OEM or equivalent parts. Mcann, GT, Ferrari UK, Superformance, DinoParts I have not touched the paint/body or interior. It has the laquer crazing and cracks starting on the front clip. The Dino has been in Las Vegas since early-70's to my purchase in early 2005. Original owner picked up the Dino at the factory based on Warranty Card info, sold it in 73. I am the third owner. I was only interested in doing the mechanical side. I wanted to keep the cosmetics original for any future restoration by the next owner. Original Gunmetal Grey with White Leather interior as shown on Heritage Certificate. Why I am selling? This will be the 17th exoticar in past 15 years I have purchased and sold. I usually only keep a car for a year. My Dino went over a year on 3/30. I have put almost 3000 miles since the rebuild. I enjoy learning about the mechanics and history of the cars. I have owned 4 Ferrari's previously and 3 Fiat Dino's. I have rebuilt a Dino 206 motor and Lambo V-12, previously. I leave the machine work to the professionals and perform the assembly. See FerrariAds. Looking for offers around 75k. Rich [email protected] 805-550-8608 #03510 Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was gonna say very fair price. Great exterior color, not crazy about the interior, but that's always a matter of personal taste, isn't it? Figure you'd need to put about $15-20K into paint to make it really great, another $10K if you want to swap the interior. So, at the current crazy Dino market, $75K is maybe just about right! Congrats on the quick sale. Staying in the US, I hope. DM
Thanks for the congrats. Yes, it is staying in the US. It will be in California. I have learned a lot about doing mechanical work on the Dino 246. Now I would like to learn all the mechanics concerning Testarossa's. I have done 308's, Ferrari V-12, Lambo V-12, Abarth Record Monza, Alfa Giulietta Veloce, Dino Fiat 206's, and now Dino 246. Fun hobby and my wife is okay with it, as long as I stay in the black. Ferrarichat and FerrariAds are the best! Great people.
Richard That was quick. Nice to see the car when you were in Santa Barbara. New owner will have fun with the pretty parts. Hope he shares the story on Fchat. Been fun swapping Dino info and good luck with the TR. Stop by and show off your new toy when you get it. John
John, Well the money was wired in early this morning. The Testarossa hunt has begun. I think it will take longer than the 2 weeks it took me to find the Dino to find a good deal on a Testarossa. I will give it a good try though. Keep up the Dino Saga, I learn more each time and I enjoy learning more about Italian cars. Regards and we will get together when I get the next toy, Rich
