I kind of hope so, it would be great to see the Dino name being used again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There will be , I was informed there was some sort of Dealer meeting in Maranello about it the week before last Dealers are accepting letters of intent and I'm on the list
I liked it at first, then I saw a profile pic of it and a Cayman...... and it looks a little like a Lotus Eliise/Exige on steriods...... dunno myself
hmm...summat to do I s'pose. Getting a bit bored lately TBH, neither of us have brought a car for three weeks or so....
It's a myth... I hope. If they produce 10,000 of these cars a year, Ferrari will still be an exclusive make but I think it will take away some of the magic.
Nope weve had confirmation from hazys very high up contact at Ferrari and expecting delivery qtr 3 2008
Excellent article in July 2007 EVO (subscriber copy arrived today) about the Dino 246 (never badged as a Ferrari remember) and the story of Alfredino (Dino) Ferrari. Article was clearly given a lot of support by the factory clearly hinting that they are starting the PR machine to build up the Dino brand again!
It's clear that Ferrari will introduce a less expensive motor car into their range. They've already 'sold the majority of the family silver' in not progressing with the natural nomenclature of F-40, F-50, F-60 and calling the F-60 an Enzo (for gawds sake). So yes, the Dino will be another 'selling off of the family silver' and will no doubt be priced to bite at the Astons and Porsche's. They've flooded the market with the 360 and the 'new' Dino will be even more ubiquitous. This is my two penny's worth. So buy a veteran Ferrari while you have the chance. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
I find it impossible to believe that even Pininfarina himself could come up with a design for a new Dino that could be anything like as beautiful as the original. If Ferrari dare to release a new 'Dino' it had better live up to the name. I can't see it somehow. Having said that, if they succeed I will be overjoyed.
The Dino name was "tarnished" by the Dino 308GT4, which wasn't in the same league as the original Dino as far as looks are concerned, so I don't think a less than beautiful new 'Dino' could do much further damage to the name.
Hi Sy, I like 348s (but then I like all F cars). Accepting free speech and all that tosh; it bugs me when people are unnecessarily derogatory about other models. Cheers Nick
Was I being unnecessarily derogatory? I didn't say there was anything wrong with the GT4, just that in the beauty stakes it didn't compare with the 246. It was suggested by someone else that if the Dino name was going to be resurrected the car should be as beautiful as the 246 and implied that the name would be 'devalued' if that were not the case. I simply made the point that there had already been another Dino that had not been as beautiful and that any 'devaluing' had therefore already taken place. As with everything to do with looks/style it's a matter of opinion - it would be a poor world if we were not allowed to express our opinions.
I think they will produce it , you've only got to look at the success Aston Martin has had with the AMV8 . There's a big market around the £70-80K price range , Porsche have exploited it for years , Aston now are reaping the rewards from it , so if Ferrari could get the new dino out at a similar price ,how could they lose ?
