I was playing with a vaporlock issue over the summer, which seemed to completely vanish now that the weather has cooled below the 90's.

Now I just took her for a spin, and in addition to the smile it puts on your face to hear that thing come to life and warm up, I noticed a pretty fantastic performance effect: Going up a pretty long steep hill, it seemed to scream up the hill like it was a much bigger motor! 2nd gear was very strong, and going up into third, it still pulled awesome. Needless to say, when you take your car out for a drive, and it's running great, it makes for a very satisfying outing :) I'm wondering if good 'ole tuning of the engine and headers is to be credited. Uphill, EGT is appreciably hotter, and so is rarefaction creating better mass-flow. I gotta experiment with that again. I didn't have it instrumented, and the performance is strictly a seat-of-the-pants feel, but it made me love the little car. Anybody out there ever notice this phenomenon??

(Of course, the radio went berzerk as I was heading back - Ok, now that's the car I know and love:) )

I mean the tuning done by Ferrari. Stock Ferrari designed exhaust as far as primary tubing length / diameter, and collector design.

    I love carbs!

They may stumble a little in first gear as well as around a tight left hander.

They waste gasoline like a Saudi's wet dream.

They can be hard to start when hot.

They work better up hill in this car and below 50 degrees in that car.

    They pop and burble.

    They smell like gas.

    They are all different.

What a joy compared to FI.

    Rarefaction creating better mass flow??

Egt's will be higher under the load of going up a hill.
