I showed one of my Dinos yesterday in a local show, which had moved to a new venue after a one-year hiatus. A guy who looked to be about fifty years old walked up to the car and, with a knowing look, said: "Dino--that was Enzo's answer to OPEC when the twelve-cylinder Ferraris were considered gas guzzlers" (not his exact words, but the main substance). I told him that I disagreed, pointing out that there were no gas lines, nor did the average person have any knowledge of the existence of OPEC, in 1968 when the 206 GT was introduced. I don't think that he was conviced. I will say this, though: it was a change from the old "That's not a Ferrari" meme. He also made an oblique reference to Dino Ferrari, the man, as if he had had something to do with bringing out this OPEC fighting machine to save the planet. Oh well, everyone is entitled to his own take on things, however deluded, right? Fred

Yeah, the oil crisis 1973 was at the tail end of production.

Yes but Enzo Ferrari was such an amazing forward thinker and through his motor racing understood the importance of the environment that he launched the Dino project to help save the world :D
