Great Article. I have a similar story. The 246 Dino...Gt or GTS...has always been my favorite car. A 246 GT was the first Ferrari I ever rode in. Anyway, back in college I had convinced myself to buy a Ferrari during my twenties, and I eventually bought a beautiful '85 308 GTS. When I was searching for the 308, though, I kept my eye on the Dino market. The prices for the GTSs were beyond what I could afford at the time (about 65-85k), but the GT's could be had for around 45K. I remember seriously debating whether or not to purchase a 246 GT that happened to be the last one imported to the U.S. Of course I didn't, I bought the 308 which I thoroughly enjoyed but later sold, and still haven't lost the desire to buy a Dino. Thinking back on what I could have bought at the time...and could have stretched to purchase (a 246 GTS), I sometimes shake my head with regret. No problem, though...Dinos-a-plenty still exist and I'm not in a situation where substantial money can't be earned...but I'll probably never have an opportunity, again, to buy such a wonderful, classic car at such a bargain basement price. In the end, I guess its silly to fret over material things, but hey, when you do...why not make it a Ferrari!!!
