anyone interested...!!! GBP100 for that ??? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1974-ferrari-dino-bonnet-/110527965612?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19bbfae9ac
That's scary looking wreckage. I hope the occupant(s) got out OK. Yikes, I wonder how that happened. Having said that, what about the rest of the car? There are a lot of useable donor parts on the rear third of that Dino. Coop
Let me get this right they are auctioning the front bonnet of a car that had a major front end collision. Good one.
Boy, there are all kinds of bits on that car that are worth salvaging. The accident does look like a very bad one.
!00gbp for 100Pounds sounds like a good deal to me. If I was in uk I would buy and hold. Engine bay bonnet obviously.
I have contacted them re the rest of the car......they are no fools.....£35k for it! Then again i guess if the engine and box are good then there must be £25k's worth there. Whether or not they would sell part individually i do not know, but certainly some very unobtanium stuff there. I have heard no stories within the UK as to whose car this was and what happened here. anyone know? G P
Are you saying that because of the Islandsalvage e-bay member? Item loction is Wigan (north England ) I have asked if they have all books and tools as obviously these as we know are rather important. Graham P S there is a rolling shell (GT) for sale on e-bay in the UK (it is a chance in a million that these two items have come up together)a project for someone to marry these two up? Mind you the seller is well known as a greedy b*s**rd on this side of the pond and theres probably more wrong/missing than he states
Yes I saw IOM and jumped in. It's an idea to marry those part cars but would such a marriage ever produce something worthwhile? Have you seen this one?
The engine bonnet, man....the rear one... That looks like a 'fatal' to me....interior is probably messy.......
front one "This auction is for the ferrari dino front bonnet which is badly damaged The shell of this vehicle is not available and will be crushed at our site in standish! " or am I readiing the wrong part?
No you are right its for the FRONT lid oddly enough.....i think this is to get the likes of us interested. The yard have given me a phone number to contact and i think that this is actually going to end up at a closed auction for scrap dealers.
Found this article in a UK paper, not sure if it's the same car. Very tragic. www.henleystandard.co.uk/news/news.php?id=616120
I emailed the eBay seller and asked whether the wheels were salvageable and whether there were survivors. The only answer I received was: Wheels 2000 (presumably GBP). Whether or not the article in the Henley Standard is regarding this Dino, I feel sorry for both the families involved, include the families of the other parties (if there were any) involved in the accident.
WOW, Having read that there is no way i would go near that car out of pure respect. I guess it is the same car as the dealer hinted to me not to try and contact the owner!!!!!!
Was gonna buy it, but they don't have postal insurance avalible...I wouldn't want to buy that beauy without insurance...
I did, skimming it ...but missed the word "front"..in the description, you' be better served starting with a stolen roadway sign, than with that piece of metal... Truly sad, to read how he died....one of 'us' in his fondness of LeMans. Please drive safely, as the mass of your Dinos against any modern car will end up looking like this....... Rest In Peace........condolences to his family and many friends.
All accidents are sad...when there is a connecting factor ...makes one want to say something but best to leave it. If by some chance the family stumbles on this they should know we feel the a little of their anguish, not for the car, but for the man who took his son on a trip and did not return
