I don't know for sure but I would venture to guess that the pouch if correct is worth the whole lot.

The blue covered Owner's manual n. 48/71 is incorrect for 1972

are you certain that all 1972 cars came with the 72 printing? it seems that they printed the new version of the manual in 1972. early 1972 cars should have the manual that was available at the time, which would have been the 1971 version.

My '74 Dino came with '72 books. They probably didn't reprint each year.

The manuals sold on Ebay came out of my Dino 246GT manufactured in March 1972. All the manuals were 1971 except the USA addendum. These were with the car when purchased by the previous owner in early 1973.

Blue cover owner's manual was reprinted in 1972 as 48/72. At some point in later 1972, red cover 72/72 came out which was used until end of 246. 68/72 Parts manual was dated 7/1972 so 48/72 was used until sometime after July 1972.

    You could be right,
    but

First of all, I have a 1972 pouch/book set from an original owner that I purchased years ago and the books are the later versions. This doesn't mean that these in the auction are definitively incorrect so I admit I could be wrong.

Secondly the pouch seems in great condition while the books have more wear. Possibly inconsistent, but perhaps the owner just used the books or packed them so the edges got tattered.

If you think the buyer is being foolhardy at collecting these items and paying high prices, then I tell you to "think again".
My Dino did not come with any of the books, tools, jack etc when I bought it from Symbolic in the early 1990s so I went after these items with a passion, paying VERY high prices from John Kennedy, other club members, or whoever I could.

    Now look at the prices.
If you want to have these for your car, where are you goiung to get them?
On a side note, I found it interesting that Bill Noon of Symbolic was recently selling Dino pouch/books and his ebay ad claimed he had them for over 15 years.
Why do you think dealers remove these from the car before they sell it?

from my experience at looking at current and recently available cars for sale, very few cars have their books with them. there is no doubt that they are getting "lost" now, if they weren't before.

one interesting note, look at all the activity that took place earlier this year regarding books, etc. where have all the books/keyfobs/tools gone? it seems like now would be the time to sell or to check the market by asking mor ethan the common perception of the market.

it is interesting that fewer items are coming up for sale. i think these prices are ridiculuos. however, tell me where you can go to buy them at any given time. i don't really know of too many places.

I think you're being very prudent, picking this stuff up.

PS - I also agree with your observation - this market has some seasonable characteristics with Spring and Summer being a time when buyers are active then downturning in autumn and winter.
