Once someone has the 2nd edition in hand, it will be interesting to hear how different it is from the original. I suspect most of the original's content has been carried over, that known errors have been corrected, maybe some additional photos or text for clarifications and some new added content. But I've wondered why Matthias, for whom I have infinite respect, didn't do an addendum/supplement with errata approach, while continuing to publish the original...maybe as a bundle offering. I recently sold an original 190sl Workshop Manual and its follow on Supplement, so it's not a new approach.

Happy to know that RUF keep their cars spotless. But it still hurts to see a copy of the famous RS book in such state. Btw, this first red/green edition is still far more expensive that the current yellow/brown - brown/yellow edition.

PS: the RUF people are very pleasant!

At checkout, chassis number is optional. Does anyone know if the books are individually numbered?

I don't really have anything more to do on my Dino, so having the 2nd edition would (likely) just be for curiosity. In the meantime, I'm spending way too much on a new `toy' in the garage.

The absolute majority here on this forum never wrote or published a book (I am myself working now on my 5th book-project!).
If you start such a project about cars, you can be happy if you get out of it without a loss or at least make some little money with it. The effort you put into collecting info and data over the years, the time you spend designing the book well, editing photos etc, and having it printed in good quality - nobody will pay you for all of that. Its a labor of love!
A second edition does not make the first version of sch a book superfluous - it rather adds newer or (!) additional information.
I can only pay Mathias my deepest respect for both versions of his truly great work about the Dino.

Matthias, in process of ordering your second edition book. Have first edition in hand from you back in ‘15. There’s no record of me ordering the first edition book. Was referred to you by Steve Kouracas. Should I just begin over again?
    Thanks,
    Hugh

+1,000,000. Matthias and the Dino Book was a major inspiration for me. The amount of time, effort, relationship building, production costs, etc I think is unfathomable to most people. People see the higher prices, but don't understand that it is rare to make back the actual costs of producing a book at this quality level and depth. At least, they didn't use to. I think nowadays this is accepted practice and about the only way for these projects to actually occur. The last 4-5 years have become a renaissance period for fantastic books across many marques. So much new information published, and which such depth, that wouldn't have been easily feasible 5-10 years ago.

CANNOT WAIT for my copy to arrive.

    A) forget DHL tracking. They are never up-to-date. NEVER. I personally would never ship anything with DHL. I always exclusively use Fedex top priority/first class only. However, Matthias said he wants to use DHL only and doesn't want to work with Fedex (he says it's too complicated, although I disagree).
    B) right now it is weekend, Sat/Sun, nobody works.

Yes, DHL is the worst. If you think their tracking is bad in Europe, it gets worse once the package arrives in the U.S.

But you’re right, it’s the weekend so I’ll just be patient for a few days.
    :)
