About 20 years ago, a member of F-Chat received from a friend in Japan a six-hour video, comprising a number of episodes of a Japanese TV car show ("Car Graphic"?). I had it copied, and played it until it became wobbly at times due to wear. One episode covers a Ferrari Day at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. Among the cars doing parade laps is the spectacular Dino Competizione. It seems dwarfed by the occupants, who appear encapsulated in dome-like glass. I have been told that it is positively tiny in comparison to a 246, as is the case with the 206 SP (I have not had the good fortune to see either the Competizione or a 206 SP). Although going on 42 years old, the gorgeous yellow Competizione still looks like the future to me! Fred

How does she drive?

 

She drives really great. She has a lot of torque, has no problem with overheating or traffic. Visibility is very good. Her headlights and wipers work well. She is very predictable in the turns and her new Dunlops are fine in the rain. Her cockpit is tight but not terrible at all and after five days and 1000 miles on the Targa Florio I was fine. Her ground clearance is very good. She feels like a baby P 4. At high speed she tracks well and doesn't tram-line on the highway. The tweaks we did really worked well and I look forward to many years and many miles.

I noticed the last photo you posted the headlight "buckets" are body color, yet in the recent photos they are black. Was the old photo touched up, or was the black your change? Either way great photos, and thanks for sharing!

Between shows Pininfarina made small changes and that was one of them. That photo was likely taken very early on before the car was completely finished because by the time the official Pininfarina Studio shots were done the headlight buckets were painted black.

Jim- Thanks- I like the red much better. Nice to have a matching set. Seems like you have more than one yellow car too. My two favorite sports car colors.

The Dino looks like it would stick to the road like glue. Great restoration job to make it really driveable. I admire the way you do that. No museum queens.
