Hi all: I hope everyone is having a good 4th of July. I did an "oops" the other day. I pulled the door handle to my 1973 Ferrari 246 GTSi a bit aggessively when the door was locked. Now the handle is stuck "flying" in the out position. The door will still open and close but it looks a bit silly. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I assume I have to remove the interior door panel but I am affraid of what I might find Thank you in advance for your help.
I think you should be OK. Just unscrew and remove the pannel. Odds are you bent a connecting rod/wire that with a little care and more time than you think it will take can be bent back into shape. It it were the door handle I think it would have just broken off. Chromed pot metal if I remember correctly. Drew Altemara
Funny thing about the Dino 246, if you lock the door and then try to open it too hard, you can break the small cable actuating the latch. I did this and used aircraft stainless cable for a little more strength. Lube it well as it follows in a little "L" shaped tube and can become frayed if it drys out. Kind of a tough little job if I remember right.
