    was the designation E or M for series stamped anywhere on the car?

    Per the Compendium…
    “M” series from chassis number #01118 to #02130. Except #01336, #01474 and #02042 which were converted to “E” series before delivery.
    “E” series begins with chassis number #02132 to #08518
