Ciao amici, I am looking at buying a Dino GT 1970 L version. The chassis number is 246GT000740 which seems correct for that year. The engine number appears to b 135C000 4206567 (if I am reading it correctly) Can anyone tell me if they match? (or where to find this information). Thanks!
Denny Schue once told me that Ferrari did not keep any record of what engine went into what car. Is that not true? Jim
Ferrari has build sheets for every car. They might have permanently lost a few original records after the fire, but they keep records for everything.
no, that`s not true. They do know for every Dino, it`s in the "Foglio Montaggio". Ferrari Classiche is able to confirm whether engine no. or gearbox no. is original to a car. They only check the no.`s you provide them and confirm. They never give out the no.`s without telling them what no. it should be including prove pictures of the no.`s to prevent fraude. Regards Matthias
Greetings for what it is worth, I have chassis no DINO246GT00572 which is pretty close to the car you are considering. My engine number is 0000005326 which conforms to that number sequence advised by another of your respondents. I doubt the engine number that you supplied is that of the original engine. My car has been verified by Maranello as having been assembled in 1969 though only sold here in SA in April 1970. regards Clive B
Welcome, Fellipe, looks like the information is not getting deeper than what we have already discussed previously, instead this is the right forum for Dino-related questions anyway. To ask the Factory (the seller now or you, if you have become the owner) is probably the best option to choose, if anything else was not sucessful. Matthias
