So far we've gotten this high and this morning I see its now over $1500.00, Shaughnessy said he'd even throw in the cloth, but he should ad that to the ad's Description - might propel it higher... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4537326188
Right now, there's a tiny asian guy in China making thousands of these things, hoping to sell them to unsuspecting goofballs who will pay $1,000+ for a frigging @#!%&+* keyring.....
i was going to keep my fingers quietm but why the heck is the Dino ring so rare and worth so much?? out of the 2 308's i have 4 or 5 period key fobs. Lorioli or something? must be a supply and demand thing.
They are out there, along with some nice repros for $80, not over $1K. I guess it's just a part of the crazy run up on all things Dino right now. Everybody has to have one for concours, or for sentiment, or just to have one before the other guy gets one. Two months ago one went on ebay for $200. Tom probably bought it, and is reselling it now. I have a nice repro, that'll do fine. DM
WTF? I just bought one from FofUK for 14 UK Pounds... More power to Tom, for getting $1500... Damn I should put mine on there!
If I am following the discussion you are talking about a Key Fob on ebay. In the last thread a 308 Key Fob was mentioned. Would it be possible to post a picture of the 308 Key Fob. I have a few Key Fobs that came with my 308s which were purchased new from Algar (the franchised FERRARI dealer located in Paoli, PA back in the mid to late seventies. At this time I have no interest in selling them. However I am curious of their present value.
How many different types of these fobs were there? I see two slightly different on eBay at the moment and I have a photo of one sold about two years ago, different again. Image Unavailable, Please Login
the three fobs shown on the word documant are all the same. the first one is a very worn down version of the same fob. all three fobs (including the ones on ebay presently) are made by icor. this was the dino fob used up until around 1973. at that point the fob maker become omea. it is an enameled fob that looks more similar to the currently produced repros on the market.
here are pics of the later omea style dino keyfob Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
for what it's worth, here is the last auction i know of that included a dino fob: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7950117548&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 my assistent was the missycoth and bid on my behalf. i bailed out at $4800, as it was clear that this buyer was serious, although i had never heard of him before. he is a collector from japan. the main reason for his purchase was the fob. this fob was a brand new omea fob. it was removed from it's original wrapper for the purposes of this auction. the dino folder was in very good condition and the additional books could all be found in recent ebay auctions. the dino fob is what drove this price. i can't say for certain what this fob is worth, but maybe it is an indication that the shaugnessy auction will end still higher than it's present price of $1800. Folks are digging them out of their drawers, maybe fabricating them in the basement. Tom's final price will shake some out of the trees for sure. There are two key fobs on ebay right now, and I'm sure more to come. DM
My key fobs. The one on the right is an older one, but I'm unsure of the date, probably 80's. It looks like Schedoni leather. Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK, this is truly amazing, the wax paper wrapper for the keyfob is for sale with the current bid being $127.50! I'm smelling the beginning of a new price bubble for all things Ferrari. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4539138508&category=6755&sspagename=WDVW Art S.
