Hi, Can anybody tell me how/where the fastners fit that come with the hoodbag/cover supplied by Reoriginals? I havent got my car at the moment so it makes it harder for me to visulise. I posted this question two days ago to no avail!, surely somebody can help? Thanks Graham Paske.
What in the world is a hoodbag/cover? I have a Re-Originals catalog. What page and part number are you looking at? Maybe I can help once I understand what this is. Bill
it is the vinyl cover that covers the hardtop when it is stowed behind the seat. it has two snaps on the top and snaps to the rear bulkhead.
Sorry Bill i gave a crap description, it is as WSpeer say's, a hard top stowage cover. Reoriginals part NoU0120 and as WSpeer states it goes behind the seats against the bulkhead, only thing is WS, you say it utilises just two snaps? mine came with six snaps in a bag and no instuctions on how it should go, and as my car has not previously had one fitted i therefore have no idea how many fastners ( i would presume six) are used, also exactly where they should be fitted? Thaks Guys
i have several original covers as well as the ones that go with my car. frankly, i never use thema nd they sit on the shelf. i will double check when i get home, but i am almost certain that the two mounting points are on the upper surface of the bulkhead near the outer edge. there is one snap on each side. the lower edge doesn't have a snap and hangs like a drape over the stored hardtop (unlike 308's). be careful with the snaps. if you push the snap down on the pin, it will bend the internal compents of the snap, thus keeping it from working again. i would guess the extra snaps were included in the event you damage one. does your car have the mounting pins in the bulkhead?
I owned one of these cars for may years, and the top cover did have a single snap on each side of the lower edge too.
Graham At the bottom of the door pillar there is a "triangular section" at floor level which goes from door pillar to bulkhead. On each of these there is a fastener plus the two at the top of the rear bulkhead. If you can wait a couple of days I will take some pictures and measurements. Dave
Graham Hope that these pictures help. The top stud is 125mm in from the end of the bulkhead Rgds Dave Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
i stand corrected abou the lower snap studs. like i said, i haven't looked at it in awhile and i don't use the top cover.
I stand corrected, now i've seen thse pics of daves i remember my car has got those studs (what a pratt) My car has been away so long i've forgotten what it looks like, but i am sure those studs are known as Tenax or 'lift the dot' fastners, whereas the ones sent with the cover are the 'popper' type, search me i'll have to wait until i next see the car. thanks guys
Graham They are not Tenax studs as you would get on a tonneau cover etc the are probably what you call poppers, they have a domed top on the female section of the fastener which fits over the stud fixed to the car and is removed by lifting up the domed top Dave
Dave, i have been to see my car and sure enough it has the same male studs in the same position as yours are , but reoriginals have sent female fastners that resemble the old style popper type fastner that you see on old jeans! Have you a cover with the female fitting on you could photo? if not anybody else help????? Regards Graham.
Hi Graham, The poppers on the cover have the word "LENAX" on them, and the top pulls up to release it from the stud. Hope this helps John Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
John, Thanyou, that clarifies things, Reoriginals have sent the wrong fastners. They should be Tenax (i remember these from my old TR6 days!) Regards Graham.
Tenax fasteners are available from Moss Motors if Matt doesn't have them http://mossmotors.com/Shop/SearchResults.aspx?SearchText=tenax&WebCatalogID=0 They also have a Euro site, I just can't remember the web address. DM
