    Hi All,

I was driving my Dino last night and turned on the hi-beams by putting the switch down. And at that moment, I was reminded of my reaction the first time I used the hi-beams. I thought it was really stupid to have the switch go down where it always hits your knees.

So I'm checking with other Dino owners to see if maybe my switch is flipped?

    Thanks

Just thinking out loud...would flipping the switch be a pain in the butt? Or just rewiring the switch so that up is the hi-beam?

But wouldn't then hit your knees more often, as you drive around in low beam mode?

    Wait.....

YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR AFTER DARK?????

What the hell are you thinking??????

Actually, I can't really tell much difference between high and low beams anyway, but mine flips down too.

I think re-wiring is more trouble than it's worth.

the high beams flip down. by todays standard, the high beams are dim. i always use the high beams on my vintage cars for two reasons. one, you can't see worth a dman without them. second, other cars can't really see you without them.

All Ferraris from the 60's 70's 80's and 90's seem to use a similar light switch. My F40 is like that too.Twist forward to switch on, Up is parking lights, middle is low beams and down is high.

I just replaced the light bulbs in the F40 with PIAA Extreme White bulbs (9006 for low and 9005 for high). The difference is staggering and it took all of 2 minutes.

A solution simpler than rewiring the stalk would be to add a toggle or push-button switch on the dash that activates the relay controlling high beams. Running two wires to the relay would be rather easy.

A more sophisticated solution, albeit not at all difficult, would be to build a remote activated relay (radio frequency). I did this with my Boxer. You can purchase at any electronics hobby shop ($35 U.S) a kit that includes a key-fob with 2 buttons, and a receiver relay board with 2 relays.

The most intriguing aspect of this approach is that, using velcro, you can place the transmitter (key-fob) on the steering wheel to allow you to press the high-beam button without removing your thumb or hands from the wheel. I placed mine at 3:00 o'clock position by my right thumb. This without wires or new holes drilled into the dash.

If interested I can provide more detail.

My left stalk has 3 positions; up is for parking lights, middle is for headlights on, down is for high beams
