Note, the post that goes into the jacking point is different from early to later cars. That being said, looks original.

Mine looks like dinodan's. Your lift arm is way bent and both rubber pads are missing. That jack is a disaster waiting to happen. I jacked up my Dino one time about 20 years ago using that jack. Looked at the angles and said never again. Bought a Honda Civic scissors jack from a bone yard and it is great. If there is any chance that the original jack base can slide under car, the lift arm will slide out, bend, and drop car. Higher the lift, the higher probability of it happening. Probably what happened to your jack.

The trick is to put the spare wheel or the wheel you have just taken off and slide it under the car. that way, when the jack fails, the car won't fall to the floor.

if you had a "brand new" dino jack would you lift your car with it? or is the jack just unreliable from a functional standpoint.

I wouldn't use mine unless the situation was dire. Even with the chock in use to prevent rolling, they are so prone to tipping. If the car falls with the tire off, it could lead to tears or worse.

I've used it to raise the car 1/2" so I can get my floor jack under the car.

I need to get me one of those low profile 3" aluminum jobbies, so I can return the Dino jack to its rightful status as trunk ornament and concours point getter.

    Dave and all,

Take a look at what I have used. $20 Pep Boys jack with new small front wheels. Works like a charm when the car is home. Plenty of clearance. Pick up frame aft of front wheels, or on rear corner of main frame tubes at rear.

Local machine shop asked $20 to cut and bore wheels from steel bar stock.

Is it possible that the jack in the top picture is for an "L" or early Dino? I heard early Dinos had a slightly different jack.

There is no "dire" situation that would require the use of this jack. That's what AAA membership is for!

it should stow away in the trunk area, in one of the recesses on the far sides. some cars have straps to hold them in. i don't know if this was factory original or added later.

My car has no hold down straps in the trunk. What is the hold down strap for that is mounted on the drivers side outside of the spare tire compartment?

I believe the black rubber strap in the spare wheel compartment is to hold the wheel chock. Not positive, but that is how it is described by some parts vendors.
