What great photos. Must have been an awesome day. Wonder what it is between Dinos and Mustangs as the previous owner of #2688 here in N.Z. had a P51 too. Must be because they are both items of extreme beauty in their different ways ??? - Cheers. - John.

Huh? My friend has owned this P51 for 2 years and just got it back into flying condition since start of 2012 after an extensive restoration including a complete engine rebuild. It's an original P51...no replica here!

I think the distant cousin to the tii would be a JU 52 - right? Hope you had a spirited drive back - did your 911 give the Dino some pressure from behind or something to catch up to?

    Good times...

I asked because p51's are being reproduced/recreated. Supply and demand.
Did you ever have a chance to fly in it?

We left too late to give chase, next time we will. Drove on Hwy. 1 all the way back, great weather...next time...
The B-52's, are the girls we see:) you know, the doos...or the planes. HOT.

The Ju 52, would be a rare sight indeed, but very close, as BMW 132 engines were the best, a license-built improvement of Pratt & Whitney design.

"original P51...no replica here! " RR Merlin 27-litre, in the P-51, a Packard V-1650-7 based, 1200+ HP, the hottest! Real cars, real planes...the only way to go. Just count those exhaust stacks!

    Great times...great sounds.

    Regards, Alberto

Always good to see an early 911 with a Dino. Age appropriate cousins but also direct competition back in the day. Here's my '71S which I sold a few years ago before the Dino came along.

Beautiful car Tom! They are difficult cars to find, just as Dino. Funny, that the Targa version is less than a Coupe, and in Dinoland, the inverse. Go figure.

I am guessing the twin exhausts, sound even better? They do look purposeful...

Sorry, don't know the history other than what is in link I posted. Photo's of it imply the answer is yes...pilot seat plus `jump' seat.

Correct. Only the "Cavalier" conversions, had two true seats. There used to be one such conversion in El Salvador, and was re-commissioned for our 'soccer war' against Honduras.
Of course, we won:), the war, and the game.
The final, and top winner, was the 'United Fruit Company' (bananas) that had so much lobby power, they got us out of Honduras after 100 hours.

The reason i ask about the ate brakes on the tii is because i think the dino also has ate brakes. Therefore common parts including the hard to find rubber caps on the bleeder nipples. Im looking for some if anybody has originals.
