Does anyone have any idea what normal oil consumption should be for a 246 assuming normal driving ?

At 181,000 miles I burned/leaked 1 qt per 200 miles. Rebuilt and now have 14,000 miles on new pistons, rings, valves, seals. Oil burned, no leakage, is 1/2 qt at 2,500/3,000 miles. I change the oil twice a year just for fun and for looking everything over. Turns out I never have to add oil between changes. Fantastic!
If you burn a quart every 4,000-5,000 miles, rings and seals are fine.

On my fresh motor I burned very little oil. Not enough to ever need to add oil between yearly (3000 miles or so) changes.

I always carried a quart, never used it.

What's the owner's manual say? Anyone? Bueller??? Bueller???

I have a feeling that my oil consumption is quite a bit higher, like maybe a qt. every 1000 to 1500 miles, but I've never really monitored it. This is on a car with a verifiable 32,000 miles on the clock.

I'm not sure where Bueller is, but on page 37, under "Periodical Lubrication", the manual recommends checking the oil level every 500 km. / 300 miles. Recommended oil & filter change interval is 6,000 miles, BTW.
