Does your Dino have this interior mounted cover around the pedals?

OMGjon's photo of Dino #04946's disassembly was the first photo that I had seen of the cover around the pedal box.
    http://www.dinorestoration.com/4946/pictures/disassembly/gallery/64.jpg
The purpose seems to be to prevent hot air from entering the cabin and I confirm that on hot days wearing my Keens (sandal like open shoes) I have noticed hot air coming in.

Any discussion on whether you have this or find it helpful is most welcome.
Since it is new to me, I'd like to find out what it is made of so I may fab one up for myself. I'll bet it is metal surrounded by Dino vinyl, with possibly some insulating foam?

It is an aluminum panel crudely cut out by the Ferrari artisans. There is no insulation, but covered in Dino black vinyl. The first Dino I worked on also had the same piece riveted with 4 rivets.

Standard in all Dinos. Held with rivets.

You could razor slit a foam weatherstrip, on the back and it'd seal things right up!

    Interesting detail! Good catch!

    Scott,

while I was out in the garage this evening I thought of your question above. Here is the cover in situ. Not sure what the base is made from. I knocked the clutch pedal rubber off taking the photo, hence missing in view. Think I will use glue next time.

    Kevin,

Many thanks on taking that picture. Are there only 3 rivets holding it on?

Just noted from this photo that the rubber on the brake pedal is comming off too. The power of photos. Hope the concours judges are not taking notes.

Climbed up under the drivers side floor board of three Dino's and they all have it. A bad back is keeping me from going after others. All three look the same and appear to be original (as I would expect).

"L" Series have them? I found something in the "boxes" that looks like it, but no idea.
All I can say is that it is made out of the same red stranded fiberglass that is all over my car,
and covered in the "usual" vinyl, has a square opening, so probably might slide down from the top .
Now, the cover in the pix, looks like it is covering the brake & clutch pedals, not the accelerator. I cannot really tell... I will post photos.
    Regards, Alberto

    Thank you.
I've ordered the Dino vinyl from World Upholstery, item #U0006, but the number on the website is a little different
