When i originally posted, the photos i posted were small and didn't have very much detail. i would like to take the chance to repost and show better photos with better descriptions. the basis for the repost are numerous questions i have had pm'ed to me and the fact that several people question a recent dino pouch on ebay. as always, i have learned from many, and i am happy to stand corrected if need be.

This pouch was seen on the earliest Dino's and corresponds to other ferrari pouches of the same era. As best as i can tell, this pouch was generally seen from beggining of production until sometime around 1970-71.

The leather cover is much thikcer than later pouch styles and has the Dino logo in a box in the lower right hand corner. the outside of the pouch has a pocket on the rear facing.

The leather clasp is rounded on the edges and has stitching.

The interior is a tan silk morray type fabric. There is single pocket on the right and a double pocket on the left. The front left pocket has a v shape cut into it.

I don't have photos more explicit than the previous postings (someone help here- please).

The pouch is the same as the style shown as type 3, however, the interior is a flat tan vinyl lining, with no pattern.

This type was used from some time in 1971. Please keep in mind this isn't an exact science, this pouch may be used on 70 model cars as well.

This is the pouch that was implemented sometime in late 71, from best estimates. It was used until sometime in 72. The leather cover has a more red hue than the type 1 pouch. The corners of the pouch are rounded and the outer perimeter is stitched. The leather snap is rounded on the edges and stitched as well. There is no pocket on the back of the pouch.

The interior of the pouch is made from a "silk morray" style of vinyl. It actually looks like a fabric, but upon close inspection, isn't. It is actually sometype of vinyl stretched over a hardboard backing. The insides of the pockets are lined in vinyl as well.

Inside the pouch, there are two pockets on the right hand side, the outer most having the v shape cut. The left pocket is squared off. This is a mirror image of type 1.

    Type 4

This pouch was used as late as 72 into the early 74 models. The leather is thinner than type 3 and almost looks as though there was some type of dot printing on it to give it a more random appearance. The lower right hand corner show the Dino symbol in a box. The edges are squared off and the perimeter is stitched. The leather snap clasp is slightly rounded on the corners and glued, not stitched. There is no pouch on the back.

The interior has a terra cota colored (often called red) silk morray fabric. The fabric only cover the outward facing areas - the insides of the pockets expose the hard crad backing. There is one pocket on the left and two on the right. Once again, the outer most right side pocket has the v shaped cut in it.

    Type 5

This pouch style was used starting around early-mid 74. Keep in mind that the style 4 pouch was definitely used for 74 models, as verified through serial numbers that show it used on a early 74 model. Style 5 was used until 246 dino production ended - as best as can be told. Style 5 was definitely used on the early 308 gt4 models. Style 6 was definitely used on 308 gt4 models, but i have not been able to verify that it was used on 246 models. Unfortunately my "one of the last one's produced" Dino's didn't have a pouch with it's manuals, thus making it hard for me to say.

The pouch leather is even thinner than the style 4, but has a more "real" leather look. By this i mean, it has graining rather than dots. The pouch has a larger Dino logo, but not in a box. The outer edges are squared off and the perimeter is stitched. The leather snap is once again not stitched and slightly rounded on the edges.

The interior is once again the red morray silk fabric. One pocket on the right nad a double pocket, including the v cut pocket are on the left. There is one magor differece in the pockets. The right side pocket has now added a fold that allows for the storage of the thick manuals.

IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO SEE EARLIER POUCHES WITHOUT THIS FOLD EITHER STRESSED OR TORN AS THE MANUALS WERE TO LARGE FOR THE POUCH.

    Style 6

This pouch was used on the first 308 models after the remaining 246 style pouches were used. i have not been able to verify that this pouch was not used on 246's. If it falls into 246 territory, it would have to be the very last 246's made.

The exterior is darker and softer leather than style 5 (it is easily scratched). There is a dino logo in the lower right hand corner with no box. The outer perimeter is stitche dand the letaher clasp is once again glued and not stitched with slightly rounded corners.

The interior is a tan/caramel suede type fabric. There is one pocket on the left. The double pocket on the right has the v cut in the outer pocket.

In response to your request for additional clarification if available, you wrote that the type 1 pouch was correct for 1968 and 1969 Dinos but NOT 1970.

A good friend in WA who has owned his Dino from new (#00870) picked it up at the factory on his honeymoon in June of 1970 and it has a type 1 pouch. It is listed in the build records as a February 1970 production car but whether you consider the build or purchase date significant, both are in 1970 and the car definitely has a type 1 pouch.

    See the attached images.

    Cheers...Keith
