Hi, I dont have the stock stereo in my 1971 dino and looking for replacement. Anyone have suggestions on what looks good in its place. What are my options? Can anyone post pics of what their dash with radio installed. thanks everyone
There really was not a "stock" radio in the Dino. Although a relatively few cars were equipped with radios by the factory at customers' requests, the vast majority were delivered without. If you are into authenticity, any period correct radio would be "concours correct". I'm not into retro authenticity, so my car has an Alpine CD player. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Really cool item is the Voxon radio/8 track unit, of course, finding 8tracks you like is another issue...But then, you can also try a Becker Europa on e-bay. Regards, Alberto
The new Becker Mexico http://www.mybecker.com/enUK/Automotive-Mexico+7948.html is a great choice for the correct period look combined with modern Sat and Nav. Freeman
My Dino came with a Blaupunkt Frankfurt (U.S.) AM/FM radio and a Blaupunkt 8 track, both installed by the dealer before sale. I just sent my radio to Emil Besier in Kildeer, IL to be serviced, but Im not going to bother with the 8 track. I do, however, have a great(?) collection of period 8 track tapes that came with my Dino, including tapes from the likes of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Barbara Streisand, Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink, The Best of Henry Mancini Vol. 2, The Don Ho Show Live From Hawaii (saving that for G. Blue). Some of my tapes are still in the original shrink-wrap like Herb Alperts Casino Royale. Why oh why didnt the first owner have some Grand Funk, Cream, Deep Purple, or Sugarloaf tapes? If anyone wants some of these, PM me.
I put in a really nice Nakamichi with CD that looks great in the car. The only problem is I never turn it on because I can't hear the damn thing over the sound of the motor and exhaust! My Wife makes fun of me for that.
