Hi guys, As some of you know I'm working right now to restore my brother's 1971 Dino 246GT. With the Canadian winters being what they are here is a link to the restoration blog we are keeping. It is updated pretty regularily and comments can be posted so if anyone is interested here is the link: http://dino246blog.blogspot.com/ I hope you guys enjoy the posts.
Hi Rob - i recall seeing this car a few yrs back before when Adrian had it, looked pretty decent to say the least back then, any reason why Paul decided to do a restore ? - He planning to make a concourse car ?
Shiny paint and plump seats my boy The car needed everything. The goal is to make it a Platinum car and then wear it out. It will be done by late July-August. Sounds ambitious but we have a really good plan going, have done this a few times before, and are motivated to get a good result in a reasonable time frame. Keep your eyes on the updates; progress has been swift so far.
Hopefully we will get to see it next August at Paloma,or at Gary's new car show.I can't believe we have all this Ferrari talent in this city great work!
Thanks for the kind words guys. Actually I'm off to California in a week for a few months (annual business stuff) and I have already planned to have the upholstery and engine/gearbox shipped to me so that I may work on it while away. In the meantime my brother is a paint and body expert and he will be overseeing that work so expect to see updates from both sides of the continent.
Happy New Year, Rob. Thanks for sharing your blog. It looks and reads great. I'll be following along so post often!
this blog is awesome. i wish i had the know how to polish a bolt, let alone restore a dino. thanks for sharing.
Rob will you guys be painting the car White or keep the Yellow? IF you are going back to the original colour then your Brother will need a new license plate..LOL. Great work and keep the photos and posts coming!
The car will be painted yellow. White is actually quite nice but my brother always wanted a yellow Dino so that is the colour. There are different opinions out there and we have always believed that as long as you paint a car a period correct colour then it is true to original. Also when you are paying the money, it is important to make yourself happy first before anything else.
I should go a few doors over from our unit. The company there sells high end espresso machines. As soon as we have one set up and have arranged for catering for any visitors I'll be sure to let everyone know Kind Regards, Paul
Great to see the progress on the Dino project! Thanks It is amazing the number of Ferrari models sold new by Yonge Steeles Motors that no longer wear their original paint color. I can think of at least half a dozen... CH
