Hi guy, My Dino was in such bad shape I didn't want to drive it for 3 years. Finally the restoration work had started, they are still stripping the paint and welding body panels right now. I am feeling so excited all over.
I had not came back to this forum for a while now, where do you guys order parts from now? Superformance still the first choice?

Good luck to you Ray! My car interior looked pretty much like that one when I bought it. It's a long road ahead but when its all done, the smiles never stop. :)

    Ray.

all i can say is make your shopping list and researcch prices. The price variation is vast from one supplier to another. Also make sure you get the best possible match to original as you can. Attention to detail makes a huge difference.

Some suppliers have now recognised that Dino values are increasing and spare part prices seem to follow the upward trend.

Good luck, you will spend many hours on the Internet.

    Tony

PS:- This site is a great source of info too.

IMHO, I would have just send the car back to factory's "Classiche Department" to have the restoration done. It might be a little more expansive than doing it here; but as a classic like the Dino, it's better to do it the right way. And you can also have it certified too.

I assume you realise that the factory subcontract out all the bodywork and interior retrimming work.

Why not just sell the car and buy one already restored. Half the fun is doing it yourself and more to the point you learn a lot about the car.

The labour cost for the body work and repaint is HK$300,000(USD$38500). Estimated completion time is 3 months. What do they charge in the U.S or UK?

Michael> I will look for the serial number next time.
Simon> this shop was opened only a year ago, but some of the staff might have work on your car.

    $100-150 x hour.

Of course, for this kind of money, it is top notch work.

IS this a "chairs and flares" RHD? Either way you don't see a lot of RHD Dinos
