thanks for the pictures, i have decided that im definitley going to go ahead with the euro turn signals. I just got the hardware in the mail so more body work ahead!
These two photos do not appear to be the same car. And although both have clear marker light lenses, their bumpers are different. In your two photos I see a difference in the ending position of the decorative rubber mounted on the front bumpers. The Dino on the left has the style that ends on the exterior surface of the chrome bumper while the Dino on the right wraps the rubber trim around the edge of the bumper, and ends facing towards the "egg crate" grill. I've seen this latter style more on US cars. Then again, not everything on these cars is regular and normal...
Rear bushings done. It took about 4 hours to grind the welds and push the bushings out. I think the next ones will go much faster now that I know what I'm doing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Euro lenses came today so next week can start to fit the Euro indicator lights. I'm definetly going to need help on this project. Image Unavailable, Please Login

John - you must be clairvoyant. That is exactly as I described to you on the phone, and exactly as I approached the task. There is no way (that I know of) to work with the existing U.S. opening to modify and create a Euro. Hence, cut out the entire U.S. assembly and weld a flat plate. Then start from scratch. You will need to look at a Euro car to understand how the tabs work. The "U" bracket pulls the lamp assembly (bucket) towards the rear, which allows the assembly to press up against the four tabs. I believe the original Pininfarina car had no indicator lights. That probably would be going to far out to the left!
Euro indicator lights are finished and some cad plating came back. Tomorrow I'm going to see somebody about getting it media blasted, as all the metal work is basically done. Jon - a guy came to our shop and powder blasted a few cars. He has a truck, compressor, and assorted tools. If interested, I can find out his name and number. Jim
It's going to Hot Rods and Custom Stuff on Wednesday to be blasted and primered. It's around the corner from me and I'm delivering it on the rotisserie. Thanks for all your help though.
Yes they are! and i don't know why. Jon i hate to say this and please do not be offended but those euro lights are not in the same position as normal, or is that the intention so as to diferenciate between your car and a euro model?
I agree, unfortunately. I went downstairs and had a look at mine - his seem to be in a different position. I know cars varied from car to car, but the positioning of the European indicators should be the same.
I tend to agree (sorry). If you look at the attitude line on both indicators on the photos (mine in blue), I think you have too much angle on your lower line. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
hi Jon, progress is looking good, I had a GTE blasted last week at a place in San Marcos and they did a great job. My painter says that the process Hot Rods and Custom Stuff uses does not effectively remove rust and that's why we chose this place. Zac (we met at the shaughnessy farm when you and your son picked up the wheels) first picture is the car blasted and the second is the car now in epoxy primer Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry, don't know what to tell you. I made an exact pattern off an original Euro car. Maybe with the paint grinded off it just looks different. I guess it will just have to be a one off. I almost did no lights like the original pininfarina show car.
And it's his car. Side by side with another Dino, you'll maybe notice it. On the road, who cares? Either way, looks like Jon's having a blast with the project. Dave
That is next to another Euro car that is.... Are there that many over there, that its likely to be beside one ? Amazing project. I wish I had half the space/equipment/time that Jon has, when I did mine. Keep up the good work and photos.
You're right I'm wrong. Fixing it Monday. Thanks for pointing it out. It was way off. I don't know how I managed that one. Wait, Yes I do, just an amateur!
