Crickey, you're correct! Fourth photo, fifth car in the very back shows a small section of the driver's side rear quarter panel. I have a Maserati Bora in a similar color and really like it.
Great Dino pictures. ALL the colors look good. Luckily I don't have to decide for awhile. While I've been mulling clors over I decided to get more organized. I took the parts book and then got tubs for each TAV. I seperated all the parts so only the parts shown on the TAV are in that tub. Sure makes fiding things much easier. After all that I had my son press in bushings and tack weld and then we assembled everything for front suspension to make sure we had every part. Will finish rear suspension next, and then finish the hydraulic sysyem.. I was going to sell the black dino but decided to keep it around for awhile. It sure makes things easier having something to look at. Omgjon, with the quality of the work going into your Dino, it would almost be a crime to paint it red and have it join that long red line ,,,,
I agree. The Dino really deserves a metallic color for those curves. And I wouldn't limit myself to factory colors either. Just look at what is done with high-end street rods, muscle cars, etc. If you want to stay period era, Porsche had some really neat colors in the early 70s. As for staying original, Mr. Corbani painted his Dino a Ford metallic blue. He will never need to worry about running into Dino's the same color. Look at the photos above. Do you really want to parked in a long line of red Dino's?
Sorry to counter you attempt to influence Jon on his colour choice, but the Red is very nice as it properly associates his car with the racing heritage. In addition, it is a safer colour because it has high visibility and with a car this low (quite low) then you're nearly invisible to some (SUV) drivers. You'd be surprised how many times I've almost been run over by some inattentive driver quickly changing lanes while chatting on her cellphone. Metallics are harder to match if you must repaint. Need I go on?
I'm leaning towards a metallic blue. I really like the blue one a few pics up. Does anyone know what color this is? Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is also an incredible purple. I think it was on a 246 in one of the Cannonball movies. I know it is on a 206GT nicknamed the General's Car. I have a photo somewhere that I'll scan one day.
Couldn't agree more.... I went through my pics from Monterey from 2 years ago & most of my Dino pics were of this blue car!
Are you sure. I had a quart of Blue Dino Met mixed #106-a-72 it seems much darker than the one in the photo.
no. in a couple of photo's it looks almost exact, but yet in a couple of photo's , the dino looks to be lighter. i compared azzurro metallizzato, and it was too light in the darker photo's. i am uncertain if this color is original. if it is and it isn't one of the above mentioned, it could be one of the many forms of blue that you can see as available colors on the dino register.
Congratulations on the restoration, since you are being a bit "loose" with the car why not a Argento exterior with a red/black interior ? It would certainly look different from every other dinos
Blue Metallic Dino's 106-a-38 Blue Chiaro Met 106-a-16 Celeste Blue Met 106-a-18 Blue Serra Met 106-a-72 Blue Dino Met Anyone know what these colors look like?
My first Dino was stolen from under my nose, In Milan of all places! It was a silver metallic with a blue tint to it I gues a bleu chiaro or celeste metallic. Absolutely mesmorising color. showed the cars lines beautifully from almost any angle. Wonder where its is now?
My TR is Blu Chiaro - Here is a pic - I know Serra is a little darker. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
blue sera is a little darker, but i don'yt know the correlation between the current blue sera and the orignal dino color. here in houston, we have a blue sera 512tr, i would like to believe they are similar. i will post a color photo when i get one.
Working on cleaning up the fiberglass (grunt job) getting all the factory gunk off. Thought I would have Jeff do that before he goes back to college next week. Then I'm on my own for awhile. Also finished refurbishing all the handbrake parts. Another TAV done. The car is definetly going blue, just have to find the right one. Probably will be the only one that came red and got painted a different color. I too think the blue looks great in the Dino's, but yellow is a close second. I have a 328 and spend a lot of my time on that sight, but I do pop over to this sight often to check on your progress. I must say I have never seen a more 1st-rate job being done. Thanks a lot for sharing the experience.
