Omgjon, what you have done is to take a Dino further than anyone has ever done, even a professional restorer, so my question is and I suspect that you will keep and cherish this little jewel and not present it for sale?
I see that you have a new emergency brake spring. Mine is shot and I have been looking to buy a replacement...where did you get it? thanks
They are going to win concourse events, and have a brilliant story to tell - think more long term Gary. and Yes, Jeff seems to be in every photo, working very, very hard. I just don't see the other half of the team participating in many photos...chuckle!
Won't be able to enter any concours because I've made too many changes from original. But will have lots of stories. Jeff does seem to be in most of the photos. I'd rather remain a mystery person.
At the FCA National meet in Monterey, 1994 the third place winner in the Dino class and platinum level car had just completed a big restoration with massive changes - some of them blatantly non-original (incorrect Campagnolos, interior panels, engine latch plating, added unrolled flairs, etc). He was a dealer and his only intent was to sell the car, which he was pandering about DURING the meet and indeed it did sell. Several of us were drop jawed. In his defense, it was a very nice looking Dino, although I disagree with many on the color of Giallo Fly. I wouldn't rule this car out as a concours contender, it is coming along so well that it is going to be very impressive. Next thing you'll have to gather is a leather bound photo binder for documentation.
Barchetta has a list of 275 period paint colours: http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/summary/Colours.275.GTB.htm There may well be a list of Dino colours on there too if you have a hunt around.
I've gotten one lead on the color. I got an Email that the color was a Pininfarina/alfa romeo color that was a standard option for the Dino. This is the same color my college roomate had on his Dino in 1973. Any help tracking a code down would be most helpful. Medium blue metallic? Image Unavailable, Please Login
In the photo of the Dino, the color must be 106-a-72 Blue Dino Met, right? By elimination, Chiaro is deeper, Celeste is much lighter and Sera is much darker, leaving only 106-a-72 Blue Dino Met.
Oh my, that thing is gorgeous. Jon, that is THE COLOR for your Dino. All you rosso aficionados are WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Jon's car deserves better than "resale red".
It's not any of the above colors. It was an optional color offered by Ferrari. I just don't know what it was called. (Medium blue metallic)?
From another thread, but applicable here - this example of concours judges that are (apparently) not Dino owners reinforces my opinion that you will do quite well. Your worst critics are on this board and few that I know of are Concours judges. Enter and let's see the results, it could be fun!
I have no desire nor intention to enter a concours. Driving the roads in San Diego sound much more appealing.
Question, On a late model (early 90's) F-car how do you get the floorpan out it is welded in? What are the choices if the floor pan is all dented up? It looks to be welded from the bottom up. How hard would it be to break those welds, straighten those panels, and reinstall? thx

Today we finished cleaning fiberglass and started on the brake calipers. The pistons were a bit of a bear to get out. Tomorrow I'm send out parts to be cad plated, and I got rebuild kits from GT car parts. I lose Jeff today for awhile. Friday he goes back to UVSC in Utah for his second year of college. I will miss him. The summer flew bye. I'm on my own for awhile. i good friend of mine seriously looked at buying this car. i have to believe it is still blue, as there was no reason to repaint it.
it was in arizone at the time he looked at it, although the seller also had a home in colorado and moved the car to arizona. i have no clue where it is now, that was about 2 years ago.
