My brother (a very astue car restorer) and I were looking at the latest progress pics. To my amazement, as we were scrolling (and I stress at speed) through the latest images he blurted out 'I see there is a problem with windshield fittment'. This was without reading anything only by quickly noticing the images of the car on the rotisserie with the markings around the windshield. I asked him how on earth he knew that having only seen those images at a fast glance. He told me that the top resoration shops always test re-fit all glass and trim before painting a car because the constant block sanding invariably leads to fit problems that cannot be seen without a test fit of (in this case) the glass for instance. I thought it incredible that this could be deduced from such a fast observation but as we see he was spot on. Jon don't feel bad. This is a seasoned restoration detail that only experience ever really teaches. The car still looks outstanding and the repair should not be too big a deal to do.

I'm in luck. I received a new windshield from Matt at reoriginals. After all the heartache it fit right in. The window guy showed me the defects in the sigla windshield. After pointing it out you could really see it. There was one area that was concave and another area that had a 1/2" bulge in it. The brand he sent me was sicursve (SP) Life is good again.

    OUTSTANDING NEWS!!

    Now you're back on track.

Incidentally, I've been slowly compiling the pictures from this thread, in chronological order. I hope to be able to put them all together on a DVD when Jon completes the project, and offer them at nominal cost to all Dinophiles!!

I'll wait for the "original" DVD from Jon since he has all the Hi-Res versions of the pictures and probably many more than have been posted...

Fantastic. I have used Reoriginals in the past and Matt has found some hard to find parts for me over the years. Just curious, would Sigla exchange the glass for a replacment? Look forward to the engine start up.

Another slowdown. I received my presowed Seats, door panels, bulkhead and carpet. Only took 9 months. The carpet was suppose to be black, they sent RED. The seats were suppose to be all tan. They sent tan with RED stripes. I have no idea where the RED came from.

that is disappointing , especially considering the source.

i have to believe your luck is about to change, especially given the windsheild experience and it's outcome

Great news - the thought of having to re-do the bodywork and paint on the windsheild pillar was painful to consider, and it's not even my car!

BTW, that's probably sicurSIV, where SIV is Societa' Italiana Vetro (literally, Italian glass company). They are a big supplier of auto glass to all the major European OEM's, so quality should be good.

Too bad about the interior mix-up. Maybe your order went to some guy with a red Dino!

This won't look good in a "blue" dino.

    Jon,

Sorry to hear about this. Sometimes I really do wonder how
things like this happen, . . you know. With things like the internet,
email, cellphones and all this electronic stuff, how does a
company take an order and still manage to screw it up. It really
does amaze me. I really think that when I place an order that
I must have been talking in a different language. I ask the technician
to read back my order and it is correct but the order is wrong.

Go figure. I hope that they are going to correct "their" mistake.

This won't look good in a "blue" dino.

Carpet should not be a big deal to get. Seats may be somewhat more bothersome.

I'd try www.worlduph.com world upholstery on the west coast. When I ordered a carpet kit from them it arrived within a week.

I did get seats from Matt. The screw up sounds painful, but maybe you did get someone else's order. Sounds way off, not the kind of mistake Matt would normally make on an item this expensive.

On the other hand, they might look good in my car. Perhaps a swap?? :D

The windshield problem is no more and I can move to the next problem. I ordered black carpet and tan seats. I received red carpet and tan and red seats. Bill at GT says no problem, but I haven't heard when. I'm ready to install the carpet under the dash and then the dash. Oh well. I put the rear hubs together so that's all ready. I was about ready to fire up the engine but when I was filling the radiator there was a leak at the head. I got a different type of head gasket with silicone beads, that should solve the problem, so the engine is back together ready to try again. IF ANYBODY NEEDS RED CARPET SET OR RED AND TAN SEAT INSERTS LET ME KNOW
