I picked up the Dino after it was totally buffed out. It looks really good. Didn't get much done as I was sorting out small problems. I plan to start on the door internals tomorrow. The paint shop broke off my turn signal stalk though. Does anyone know where I might obtain a used one or am I going to have to send it somewhere to make a mold?

I had my head light stalk snapped twice before i ever drove the car after it arrived here in NewZealand once by the shippers and again by the compliance garage i repaired it my self but its a real pain to do.I spoke to a guyGerry in Australia who i have brought some parts from and i am sure he said he has several complete units in stock plus some spare parts you could try him if that would help [email protected] I found him very good to deal with and he owns a Dino so he cant be all bad good hunting

Started working on the doors today. Started on the left door and got the mirror on, The motor for the electric windows and cables, the interior door pull cable, exterior door handle, the lock and the door light. All of the stuff put on today WORKS so far. Verrel at Unobtanium is making me a new turn signal stalk, so all is well there. I have 15 miles now on the car as I start it everyday let it run awhile and do a few laps around the neighborhood. I haven't had it aligned yet, but it feels great. The only leak so far is a drop everday at the bottom of the rear brake balancer. There is a rubber cap at the end but a little brake fluid oozes out. Not sure what that's about yet. I also put new motors in for my power windows and hooked up accelerators. The difference was so small I decided not to use them. Maybe they work better on older motors??

Your shelves must be looking pretty empty at this point, yet you still have a bazillion little things to put back into place... GREAT JOB on EVERYTHING...

    Jon,
You have a new harness with no corrosion on any connector. If all is clean, window motors work fine. I have to hit all connectors and switches every 5-6 years with WD-40 and mine work fine too. Connector at door hinges is biggest problem. Paint looks beautiful. Keep on rollin'.

Your ignition key appears bent in the photo of the door lock cylinder. The key may be compromised.

The key in the door lock cylinder is the SAFE / TORINO key. The one that looks bent is the one hanging. That is the NEIMAN ignition key made in GERMANY. When the key bends it fatigues and may break later in the ignition lock cylinder.

    JG,

Looks fantastic, share some thoughts on the exhaust sound when you aren't busy lapping the neighborhood. Are you and JCorbani going to get the "two blues brothers" together for a photo shoot?

Painting the interior door panels was a solid solution to one of the Dinos problem areas

I caught up on the right door to where I was on the lift. Back to the left door and got the chrome trim piece riveted on and the felt that wipes the window screwed on. I have a couple of parts that I don't remember where they were in the doors if anyone can help with that. I'm going to try and get the left side glass in tomorrow. Short day, back to Deer Valley for a little skiing. Did anyone see the Dino motor on Ebay? It would be cool if it had the gearbox. I wouldn't mind having one just to practice taking apart the engine and putting it back together. After a few times I bet it would be a lot easier to figure out. The Gt3 Rs is an amazing car and so much fun to drive. I really think I prefer it to my 430, but one of each is better. I had a spot in my garage open up because I gave my Porsche 993 Carrera Cab, 15,000 miles on a 96 that I've had since new, to my oldest son for graduation from law school. I always had some sort of 911 since I was eighteen. So couldn't stop now, hence the GT3 Rs. Now that I look at the photo of the key it does look like a slight bend, I'll check tomorrow.

Sniff, Sniff. I think it's great that you did that.

Ever since I was knee high, kept telling my dad that I wanted his watch. He always said he'd give it to me when I graduated from College. Well, time went along and when I graduated, he gave it to me as my one and only graduation gift. It's all I wanted. I hope your son enjoys the Porsche in good health for many years to come.

Those left over door parts....... the two on the left with the machine screw holes, are they originally from underneath the old mirrors ie strengthening plates that go inside the doors, just guessing. The two folded pieces with self tappers. maybe something to do with wire guides for the window lifter cables. or did you have speakers originally and they were something to do with the bracketry for those? the lone piece maybe something to do with the mirrors again i dunno.
