How interested might the community be in a re-manufactured steering column switch unit for both the Dino and the Daytona? A friend who owns a manufacturing facility (plastic and electrical) has capacity to take on additional projects. I suggested that these column switch units are impossible to find and often in great need.

If manufactured identical to original equipment, with high quality (modern) plastics, would you be interested? There are 10 pieces of plastic in each unit (we counted). This requires 10 molds. Cost will be siginificant to build the first one.

Is the world wide community able to purchase 100? 500?

    What are you thoughts?

    Hi Jim
I think they already have been done.
I just bought one from Ferrari in the UK
couple of the wires had to be changed, used my existing stalks and
hey presto it works I think their off a 308 not sure.
I believe a couple of other suppliers stock them now.

Jim, Are you talking the "whole" unit ie with the stalks? from what i've read before on here it's the stalks that break. So i am presuming Stephen that the stalks on your car were intact? Could you post photos of yours Stephen?

I used two of the stalks of my old one,(wiper and indicator) but used the light switch turn on the new one
have to paint that silver, but is the same size,
The only thing you have to watch is possibly upgrade some of the cables for the dip and main as there is only one relay
on a UK electrical fuse board ,so from that relay it takes the full current up to the switch, and back to the fuse board.
The relay is operated by the turn of the light switch (green and a black cable.
    Will sent pics later

Graham - yes, I am referring to the entire unit, including the lever arms for wiper, lights, and directional, with black plastic on the ends, and black (improved) plastic where the lever arms mate with the unit. It would be an exact reproduction of the Dino unit, including wiring harness to the terminal blocks.

May I ask what others have paid for a new unit?

To gauge pricing. I paid about $600 to get mine repaired, badly. Then another $300 to get it fixed from the repair.

I tried to buy a replacement and was offered used, as is, a couple of complete units for $1300-$1600 that the seller claimed were in excellent condition. I would have been willing to spend in that range for a new, not rebuilt unit.

I have heard that the stalks are priceless and easy to break

I thought T Rutlands had them for around $1,200. They were on Ebay not too long ago. I think the plastic was white instead of black.

I'd pay $1,200 if I needed one but it would have to be right for an 206 or a 246 "L" series car as they are slightly different.

    Cheers...Keith
