Hi All - just tidying up the steering rack on my Dino as part of a slow resto. Wondered if anyone knows what the finished product for the SUPPORT MOUNTS is supposed to look like? I have one that I've cleaned and the other still on the rack. However, the one on the rack looks like it is covered in over-spray and the likes so I can't tell if it was originally painted black or not. thanks heaps Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not sure which series you have or if that makes any difference but painted semi gloss black seems right.
James, I agree. Here is a photo of the assembly along with other related steering bits post restoration. Hope this helps and good luck with your project. Best Regards, Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login
thanks gents - much appreciated... semi-gloss black it is then *Paul (rosemeyer) Those nuts and washers look like they were cad plated or something... super shiny!! wow!
almost all done and dusted..... got some washers and nuts to replace existing and that's probably it for the supports and rack (have done the rest of it). Have left 'some' of the patina on the steering rack still in place vs painting everything on it... this will be a driver vs garage queen. cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
I reused the original bearings inside the rack. The skf bearing you see on the picture is the bearing for the lower steering shaft. I can find the serial number on that one if you like?
