Yesterday, I discovered that a rat got past the mothballs and Decon in my Winter-stored GTS and chewed up the leather on the steering wheel. The foam looks O.K.,but I now have to restore the wheel. Any suggestions?(besides getting a cat.....)

Ask Tom S. he knows. Momo stitcher is still over in Italy somewhere, either covered with dust or rust.

    That sucks.

I don't know of anyone who comes well recommended for this. There are a couple of restoration guys listed in Hemmings every month, but the reports have not been too promising.

If the guy is still in Italy somewhere, MAtt at Re-originals may know where to find him.

Thank you. So the options are: buy new from Re-Originals @ $1400 or send to Italy for an undetermined amount of time/dollars? Has anyone tried the reproduction(gasp) wheel from Re-Originals?

I have a momo reproduction wheel in my Dino that cost under $200. I think I got it from Superformance, but I may have picked it up on Ebay. (It's been a while.)

Except for the leather seam being centered under the bottom spoke, it looks very good.

I have the original wheel, that I need to send somewhere for restoration, I just haven't really found anyone who gives me a warm fuzzy feeling yet.

The Momo steering wheel that came with my Dino appears original to me, but it is BLACK! A part from the fact that I hate the color, has any Dino ever had a black steering wheel? I suspect not, so I am also very interested in a good replacement solution...

I ordered a repro wheel from Superformance (not installed yet), and it looks great to me, but it is slightly bigger than the black steering wheel on the Dino. Is my steering wheel too small, or the Superformance too big? To change or not to change? Or should I keep looking for an original?

    Thanks and cheers,

Momo Prototipos and they are still around in both finishes black and silver anodyzed(sp?) are identical with the exception of the vertical spoke
(6 oclock) not having the leather covering approx 1 inch up like the other two spokes. New silver wheels also say prototipo on the face.

Yes they are identical in diameter.

The major differences are the seam in the leather, and of course it doesn't say "MOMO" on the front spoke.

The leather itself is also not as shiny as the original wheel. I don't know what it would have looked like coming from the factory.

The guy I got it from claimed it was manuactured by MOMO, it does say, "Made in Italy" on the back.

Wide angle shot, I believe, is dostorting the image somewhat. the wheel is a little thicker in my hands, but again, who knows how much of that is due to 30 years of use, and some shrinkage, of the original wheel.

Do you mean the overall diameter is too big or the dimension (thickness) of the grip looks too big?

My Dino came with a Momo Prototipo from the previous owner and when I grip it, then I find it is a slight bit thicker than the original. I actually prefer the Prototipo to the original, as it is more comfortable.
