Syncro, Ive had lots of mustangs (my SS camaro hads lots of torque) and driven lots of 05's not the same or I would have one. I prefer more torque than a v6 - normally aspirated can provide. I continued to say they were pretty just not fast enough for the money, never said they were **** but they are overpriced for the performance they offer. Unfortunatly, the people here that wont admit they are slow, own one, not surprised.

4camGT, wheres my barf bag, you talk like the dino is gods gift to the tifosi, give me a break, its just a car, not something to be worshipped. Blab all you like about the value of a BB or a 355 vs a dino, you get more bang for your buck with a BB or 355 than a dino any day of the week and no dm_n_stuff, never spoke to frank.

race bread engine....that fiat made for the grocery getter fiat dino....whoa....180hp....am I dreaming?

jusdriveit, anyone I have spoken to that has driven a 246 has said they are slow but handle well and look nice, hmmmm....I believe thats what Ive been saying all along.

wspeer, a low powered gokart has a better power to weight ratio than a stock dino let alone a high powered kart (not to mention torque). No comparrison, I used to race 2 stroke karts.

Bottom line, 206/246 are expensive and not very quick, hard to find a nice example because they were typically unloved and serviced acordingly during their lives, pretty to look at and fun in the twisties but no power house, that was my whole point, low on power, high on price and thats not just my opinion, $100K, 180 HP?????

In matters of opinion, debate is superfluous.

That said, I purchase a Patek Philippe not because it can tell time better than a Casio.

I purchase an HP calculator not because it calculates better than a Wal-Mart variety.

I purchase an expensive cell phone not because it performs better than an inexpensive one.

I do these things because there is an intangible (unmeasureable) quality to the feel, design, build, etc. The Dino falls into this category.

Wow james, there was an argument in another thread I saw where they were targetting people like you that buy nice watches rather than a timex, too bad you missed it.

Yes, all ferraris have an unmeasureable quality, unfortunately torque is measureable and its a factor to many people like myself when considering a purchase.

    Im done ranting.

    I doubt it.

    Now on with the thread!
    DINO INFLUENCE FROM OTHER FERRARIS
When driving, looking through the front windscreen was amazingly similar to the other threads' photos of the P3 sporting those fenders which curve into the angle of view.

The front bumpers have an amazing likeness to the 330 series.

The rear ducts in the bodywork hint of the LM.

The interior has hints of the Daytona

This is why the car is unmistakenly a Ferrari, it was influenced by predecessors in the F line

Paul - a Casio (or Timex) will measure time more accurately than the Patek.

The Wal-Mart calculator will calculate at lower cost than the HP.

The other cell phone will dial and transmit as well as the more expensive one.

All these metrics are easily quantifiable. As is torque. As is top speed. As is lateral g forces. If a metric is what you seek, than I suggest you purchase a 1972 corvette (not to speak of a 2006 model), as it will likely out perform the 1972 Daytona, at lower cost.

What I am trying to convey is that performance metrics in any product may be offset by aesthetic attributes, and this is where opinion comes into the equation.

There is no logical reason to purchase a Patek or a Ferrari. The decision is based solely on emotion. Hence, debate becomes illogical.

"...unfortunately torque is measureable and its a factor to many people like myself when considering a purchase." That you lean upon a metric (as do many) is simply a reflection of diversity of opinion and rationalization for choices that we make. I, for one, begin the process accepting that there is no justifiable reason for purchasing a Patek, or Ferrari. Now that this is out of the way, which one rings my bell.

Is it not a great thing that we all aspire to different things in life? Can you imagine if we all fancied owning the same car, the same watch, the same house, the same wife!! Wouldnt we all be in the SH*T ?

BB's are wonderful cars, also true Ferraris and following in the footsteps of the mid engine layout pioneered in road cars by the Dino.
