I just noticed this Dino tool kit which is being advertised by Silverstone Auctions as an entry in their upcoming sale at the Ferrari Owners Club GB National Meet at Sywell on June 4th. It has a guide price of £6,500 - £7,500 which is questionable as the bags are reproduction items in incorrect material with the wrong colour of lining and most of the tools are not in any way correct. I hope unwary potential buyers don't get carried away.

I have emailed Silverstone Auctions to advise them the kits are mostly incorrect and/or reproduction items and they are contacting the vendor to establish provenance and have thanked me for bringing it to their attention and said they will change their website accordingly once they have established this.

I believe this ^^ has always been the MO for many of those in used car sales business, be it auctions, brokers, dealers, etc., but some auctions seem to have (& take) advantages towards that end.

    I agree.

Well, while there are those you refer as “suckers”, some willing, some unwilling, it’s the individuals that prey on them I’ve always despised and have no respect for.

If a dealer took these items out of a Ferrari Dino before he sold the car he might believe they are correct. I applaud the Dino community for sharing their knowledge. I especially love photos.

It didn't sell and the owner is evidently delusional with a buy it now asking price of £6,650. That is one expensive jack if anyone buys it as nothing else in the kit, with the possible exception of the carb key, is correct for the Dino and the bags are repro's made from the wrong material.

    Iain,
I was at the auction today (primarily to stay out of the cold and rain!). The auctioneer was a bit apologetic over the tool kit lot, suggesting it should not have got through their normally tight vetting. Which begs the question, why on Earth did they not pull the lot. It really was so far out it was embarrassing… thankfully it was a no bid…
    Regards
    Kevin

I was there too Kevin but bailed by 1pm as it was cold and miserable. It was a real shame for the organisers as it brightened up considerably by 3:30.
