Dino Trans & Motor #'s

What is the VIN # ... then you need body #, gearbox #, engine # and SN.
Matthais it your man... Make sure you buy his book when it is available in the next few weeks.
For what it is worth, do your research before you buy. There are too many compromised Dinos out there. Make sure your get things correct. Again, Matthias is the "Master".

Great and extremely lucky find!

Firstly keep the details of the actual car confidential as best possible. An early Euro GT is a very cool and rare find these days.

The engine type and actual number are super hard to photograph when the car is assembled. The gearbox numbers are a bit easier. Attached are shots of one I have and yes, despite what some might say, "Born With" components do effect value greatly.

You can contact me directly and I will walk you through the process on how to find and hopefully get a photo of each. You will need an inspection/dental type mirror on an extender and a good pencil, high intensity flashlight and small credit card size flat digital camera.

Besides "Matching Numbers" the next biggest value factor is going to be extent and content of rust. These cars were assembled with steel, alloy, fiberglass, rubber and a bit of paint here and there and all of it was welded together with old coat-hangers so be careful and inspect closely.

There had been another thread some months ago here, about VIN #, engine # and value of matching number's etc ... could be of interest.

 

Somebody needs to teach me photography skills. How do you get such good pictures. I have my numbers. *04022*, gearbox 930E, body 919, engine style 135cs000 w/ sn 000979? (missing last number, until I get the bore scope back). Euro car build 15 May 1972. I have had a very hard time getting actual pictures for documenting the numbers. I have some but the engine number is near impossible on my car.

 

Good for you!!!! Can you let us see pictures? I only with I picked up a few Dino's when I was in my 20s. I love these cars. Hind sight is great.

 

Oops, I still need somebody to help me with taking pictures. Do you take them with a bore scope? My friend's scope in not very good at photography. I have good photos of the VIN and Body. The gear box should not be a problem but the engine actual sn is a pain to photograph. Sorry to steal the tread... PM me with any advice or help.
Back on subject... if Matthias says it is right.... IT IS RIGHT! I know of nobody that knows more about our Dinos that him.

 

Here's instructions Matthias provided to me last year when I acquired my early 1971 Euro GT....

-you find the body no. in the left moulding of the water tank in the engine bay. You need to unfix the screw and you can see the number.

- the engine no. is slightly left of the oil filter, stamped just below the cylinder head.
You have two nummbers to look for:
a) Fiat number: 135 C 000 000????
b) Ferrari number just below Fiat number: ???

- the gearbox no. you find in one of the engine mouldings. Easy to locate from underneath the car.
