The Dino vinyl has the appearance of a grain to it. I saw something recently when we had three 246 GTS cars together that poses me to ask other owners about the direction of the grain for their cars.

    I'm only inquiring about the Dino vinyl in two areas;
    1) the top edge of the door above the handle
    and
    2) on the center tunnel.

Does your Dino vinyl grain go in the longitudnal direction (front to back) or in the lateral direction (right door to left door) ?

    Thank you.

for entertainment purposes, i went and checked the two dino's i have in my garage currently before voting in the poll. one is a early 74 spyder and one is a late 74 spyder.

both have the door top grains running from front to back.

both have the forward part of the tunnel running from front to back (ie- where the **** gate, window switches and ac controls are)

both have the tunnel where the parking brake rests running from side to side, although at a slight angle.

both of the dino's are extremely original. i can't say for certain that no work has been done on the vinyl. however, i strongly believe that what i am looking at is original.

sorry to correct myself, but i am glad i checked.

better yet, thanks to dave, i can't vote in the poll now.

i am curious about the poll results. i would assume that the left to right grains are restored, but can never say for certain. does anyone who voted have pics or better yet, know if your car is original?

I agree with wspeer's findings all front to back except near to the handbrake lever which runs side to side

On my seemingly original '72 GT

    Latitude:
    Tunnel (aft)
    Rear window sill
    B-pillar

    Longitude:
    Door window sill
    Tunnel (fore & mid)
Inner cover/panel beneath door (sill to floor-pan)
    A-pillar below dash (short piece)
A-pillar above dash, over door, down C-pillar (continuous piece)

Some of this info is superfluous to you GTS owners. 'just expanded a bit on wspeer's expansion. And, this is way more info than synchro wanted to know, but it's another great "while you're at it..." opportunity for comparison. We likely will not find a definitive answer; rather, a trend--with exceptions. You know, some 'artistic license' as the interior trim pieces were being crafted.

    For dm_n_stuff,
You may have to add a third option for the tunnel: "C-Both of the Above."

    Cheers,
    Coop
