My Dinoplex has stopped working and I need to replace it as the car is running onthe secondary coil. I can source the part no problem but I'm told it's a slightly different system, no longer a capacity discharge system. It comes with a wiring diagram and the correct stuff, but is it a DIY job?

Any feedback would help before I send the car off to the dealers again!

Is this the unit from Superformance?

If so, I bought one about six months ago. My mechanic, with many years of experience popped it in with little difficulty and it works great.

I did do some time as apprentice electrician (household stuff) in my youth and did not want to tackle it myself. I can read a electrical diagram, kind of like I can read Spanish, so I let him.

It took a couple hours or so, I would estimate, for him to replace the ratty old electronic unit someone had installed in the late 70's.

You could also buy and Allison, MSD, or etc and use your current box and connector by placing the contents inside. I had permatune gut my Marelli unit and put one of theirs in it - no one can tell it is aftermarket and it runs great!
