Next year (2007) 246's are allowed in the Tour Auto in France. Currently 4 dino's subscribed (one is mine, any others out there?). Last year was super!

    Hi Oscar,
How did that rule change come about? Much as I love Dino's they aren't in the true spirit of Tour Auto. I think part of the prestige of the event was having to own a TdF type car. To be honest I'd rather they kept it that way, I'd rather see the Renault 4CV than a Dino in this event. There are plenty of other events we can take our Dinos to.
One bad thing has come out of it already, we don't get see your 275GTB if the Dino comes !!

Ahhh....OK then. Well I think 2007 entries should therefore be restricted to the early 1970 246GT models with centre lock wheels, alloy doors etc. I think it might be totally out of character for this exceptional event if someone is accepted in a 1973 Dino 246GTS. Just my opinion.

well Andrew, you are right about the '50-60 ferrari's but mind you, since long the 308 is also allowed in the competition class. And an Elan vs a 275 is not fair. Also Dino's are lovely to drive and much better equiped than 250-275's. I think they also need more cars to finance the whole thing. Anyway, don't worry, we will use the older cars in the futures events.

Hope to see you in paris.

But the 308GTB's we see are restricted to the Michelotto comp cars which means not too many. Same for Daytona, we see comp cars but regular Daytona excluded. So I hope they accept only 1st generation 246GT. I know the Elans run rings around us, but it doesn't matter to me, I love the TA for what it exclusively represents. I did Classic Adelaide last year with Lusso, doesn't feel very "classic" when there are 355's 360's and 911 turbos accepted. That is an event now spoiled by too many ordinary cars, I think there were no European classic entries this year, so the event has devalued itself, in my eyes. I'd hate the same to happen with TA. There are many events to choose from, I think TA should aim to remain the jewel in the crown. I love the weird assortment of cars that show up.
Hope to see you in Paris too......all the best !

GOSH, a 246GTS really would ruin the show, wouldn't it? Heck, I wouldn't even bother to get up to look out the window of my hotel if the TA went by, knowing that a 246 had contaminated the event.
