    Hello
I read all the threads I could find on dropping the oil sump cover. Very helpful
I removed the dipstick by losening the 27 mm nut on dipstick and the 10 mm nut on the cam belt cover.
    Removed the temperature sensor.
I tried to remove the dipstick tube extension with a coat hanger.....not working.
I dropped the cover as far as I could and I could easily see the extension. I tried pushing on it from inside the sump, out top where the dipstick tube comes in.....Would not budge.

Do I have to remove the fitting that the 27 mm nut from the dipstick screws onto. The one that is screwed into the sump.

I don't really want to do this because it is so tight. Can anyone help please.

    Thanks. Brent.

The extension is a length of tube with a funnel like flare on the end. The flare mates up with the ball face on the dipstick tube.

You do not need to remove the threaded fitting to remove the extension.

The flare can get expanded by overtightening the dipstick nut, resulting in the flare being somewhat jammed into place. It may take some wiggling around to dislodge it. Try finding a 12" - 18" long piece of metal rod that's a snug fit inside the extension tube. Insert the rod into the extension tube & wiggle it around until the extension tube comes loose. If the rod is several inches inside the tube, the tube won't kink when the rod is being forcably wiggled around.

    Thanks guys.
The tube was bent. Could not pull it out. Ended up cutting it. McCann's is ordering me a new one. Thanks. Brent.
