i know this has been covered a lot. i just need clairification on how to hook up the pig tails of the tender directly to the battery. 1. leave the battery switch in the on position. 2. once i expose the battery do i connect the pigtails to the clamps on the terminals or should i loosen the clamps and move the clamps up on the terminals and try to connect the pigtails directly to the terminals on the battery almost under the clamps, or should i just disconnect the battery and connect tender?

as you can read i just need a really clear discripition in how to do this.

    thanks

If you are installing an aftermarket tender I would connect it to the battery cable junction box behind the left seat. There is a black box with a red + on it. Hook the positive or red wire there. Above and behind the box there is a gold colored lug put there as a place to connect a jumper cable. Unscrew it and screw it back in holding the other wire. Reinstall the panel leaving the connector of your pig tail accessable.

If you have a Ferrari tender as pictured it is best to just take it to the nearest garbage receptacle and make a deposit.

Is that panel behind the seat on a 360, or a 430???

So - what you are saying is that the red+ is obviously POS, and the gold lug is ground? Anyone have a pix?

I have the factory charger - but feel more comfortable with my tried-and-true "Battery Tender." I don't feel like messing around the footwell in the CS -and would love to use this option...

Mine is in the footwell of my CS. The cover plate unscrews easily (two screws) and the plate hinges down exposing the battery. It is very easy to mount a permanent battery tender lead directly to the battery and leave the end exposed on the right hand side of the battery cover. It took me less than 10 minutes to set it up and it takes all of 10 seconds to connect the car to the tender.
Behind the seat works just as well. I felt I had more room to work in the footwell for the initial installation, but it's a personal preference.

OK, On my 360 I just recently bought I have a 3 prong plug end sticking out behind the driver seat. Do I just hook up a extension cord to it and plug it into the wall?

Don't plug anything into anything unless you know what it does and what it is attached to.

Thats what I thought, I will just have to remove the panel to see what it's connected to? I just assumed it was a battery charger

Link works - but I can't get the pix to show....

I know I am being a pain - but could someone post a pix of the connection locations to the electrical box under the passenger seat? Please?

    Hi,

Rifledriver did mine back when the car was new (An Interstate-something-or other) - with, as he says, the lead coming out from the cover behind the drivers seat.

I actually had both of these covers off yesterday for the first time (!) to install my DA system - Sorry, didn't take any pix, but if you just remove the 4 screws in the cover behind the drivers seat you'll reveal a big-ass collection of red wires on a block - +ve obviously goes there and the gnd can go on any of the available bolts.....

Believe me, while I understand you nervousness, this really is a no-brainer - You won't need a picture once you get the cover off - All will become clear - Trust me! :)

[Only thing to be careful of is when re-inserting the screws - Take your time to make sure they're not cross threaded - You should be able to get 'em with your fingers.....]

    HTH,
    Ian

    Ian,

I'll assume that you can access the box(s) by sliding the seat forward. As I said earlier - I have a CS and the seats don't really have much seat adjustment forward (manual knob)

    Stu,

Slide the seat forward and then for additional clearance you can move the back portion of the seat forward by rotating the CF turn knob clockwise.

Attach your positve or red wire to any lug under the lid of the black box in the center of the pic with the red + on it. The other wire goes to any chassis bolt but I attach it to the gold one in the upper and slightly right area of the picture. This is the electrical equipment area behind the drivers seat in a US car.

I'm glad to hear your comment about the Ferrari tender. I hooked my car up with it because I was going to be gone for three weeks. Came home to a dead battery. Opened up the passenger footwell box and connected my cheapo Autozone trickle charger which worked just fine. What is the deal with the Ferrari tender?

Went to start the car and got the "OK" only to hear the clicking and shut it down. Been 2 weeks since last start-up and very cold here - so hooked up my dealer-installed tail-lead (behind driver's seat)that mate with the Deltran BT Plus.

Hate to shut the door on the wire, though.
