I am in the process of installing air injection-free headers on the car. I have purchased new exhaust manifold gaskets, and they are dimpled or raised in one direction. Which direction do they get installed? Dimple/raised part towards the heads, or the dimpled/raised part towards the exhaust manifold?

I would think placed towards the surface that has the most deflection.

No and when removed the stock headers it was that way before. Does that make it right that ferrari did it that way? Also as long as I have been doing automotive I have allways used permatix spray copper on metal gaskets. Sets up tacky and makes the gasket stay in place

If it’s not flat it is not going to seal anyway- nice job to tackle with a good file if you have a couple hours spare
