I just moved into a new house, and decided not to put up with the frustrations of Charter cable and go with DIRECTV. Who here has it? What are your favorite channels? Does anyone know what kind of HD content they will have in the future? I see the commercials that they will have "3 times the capacity of cable," but what EXACTLY do they mean? Right now, they don't seem to have too many HD channels. I realize I could do a little bit of research myself on this, but I'm going to Home Depot right now, and I value opinions here a lot more than other websites.

I LOVE Discovery HD. And HDNet. I could literally watch paint dry in 61 inches of 1080p HD.

Speed HD? Anyone know the promise of that?

I have Total Choice Plus with HBO and Starz. Good programming, I spend way too much time in front of the tube.

My favorites: FX, History, HInt, Speed, Spike, Sleuth, Military, Science, TLC, Discovery, NGC, Biography, Bravo, A&E, Comedy, SCIFI, DIY

Make sure you get the HR20 and the 5 LNB dish.

The DVR is a great tool to skip commercials and watch when you want to watch.

We ordered the DVR, but when they installed, they just had the HD box, and we didn't catch it until we actually sat down to watch tv that night. When we called to tell them of their mistake, they said it would be a month before we could even get and HD DVR because all the NASSCAR fans scooped them up for Daytona. -------rasberry--------

I've had had Direct TV for over 5 years now. They are one of the best in service, customer service, pricing and all the free **** they have given me over the years could easily adds up to 1000 For sure.

But if you really want HD, DishNetwork is the way to go. They have more channels and they don't charge you additional 10 dollars for it.

Wohooooo. We have both Direct TV and Comcast. Both are nice! Did you order Speed TV cause we didn't have it on our basic plan so we had to upgrade it.

My favorite channels are Discovery, NGC, HBO, TFC (The Filipino Channel.. Philippines) and Speed. I barely watch TV though.

I was under the belief that only Blu ray and HD DVD can output in 1080p. I know my Directv only outputs in 1080i.

I believe you're right. However, my new TV is 1080p, and I won't be able to tell a difference until I get a 1,980 inch plasma.

Anyone seen previews for the upcoming Planet Earth series on Discovery HD?
