I've noticed that the top of my dashboard gets quite some dirt on it real quick. Yesterday after I washed and cleaned the car I took her for a spin and only after half an hour the dashboard was all dirty again.

At first I thought it might be some dust left over from the repaint, but I talked with another 308 owner briefly about it and he pointed out that the intakes for the air vents are situated very low in the nose, so it's inevitable to pick up dirt from the road.

So, is it indeed inevitable to clean the dashboard very regularly (every trip) or is this unusual? If so, how could I clean out the ventilation hoses without taking the car apart?

I just looked at your profile and saw your car.
Installing the windshield will help. ;)

    OR

There are filters on the air inlets to the cabin if you've got the blowers running as it appears from your note. They disintegrate; there are a couple of threads (I think one is pretty recent) about things people have used to replace them.
Also, check what product you're treating your dash with. Some products claim to help prevent dust. I have no idea what you have available at your auto parts stores, so just go browse and read the back of the bottles.

Maybe I'll try your first suggestion first, thanks! LOL

The dash gets dirty even without the blowers on. Thanks for the lead on the filters, I'll have a look into that. For cleaning the inside of my car I just use a mild soap (green soap) after vaccumeing (sp?).

Try a 'California Duster'. They work great, I have one for the interior and one for the body.

I use a slightly dampened sponge from time to time, but I like the California Duster idea better. I know the sponge isnt a great idea, but it worked and was never wet enough to leave any wet spots or water - just enough to pick up the dust.

Swiffer -- a miracle invention ;) (but replace the filters in the heater airboxes with some modern "window AC" product from the hardware store as Don suggested -- your old ones are probably decaying and are the major source of the "dust").

I think the biggest area you can try to help yourself is really in your vinyl protectant.
    Here's one of my favorites: 303 http://www.303products.com/shop303/index.cfm/category/65/303-aerospace-protectant.cfm
I have no idea about Euro availability, but they claim it repels dust and I don't dispute it. I've noted another product or two making similar claims; check around at the auto supplies store.

Finally, I carry a micro-fiber towel behind the seats that's useful for many things, including dusting at red lights!

Do you have a link? I can't seem to find a thread where this was discussed and I don't see anything in the part diagram indicating there is a filter in the ventilation system.

It doesn't repel dust, but I do love 303 Protectant. I use it on mine. I'm in the California Duster fan club.

Thats interesting, I just looked it up it seems Rutlands has them for about $20 each. I will definitely look into getting those for my car.

I'm curious about that too. Maybe inside the boxes number 5 and 33?

I was experiencing the same issue, so I closed all of the vents on the dash. Problem went away.
