Oh, another Sunday, another bit of fun. Finding the problem is always 80% of this issue, right? Glad I found this ...view with a mirror.

    - ordering replacement gaskets. Any other recommends while doing ? (Recently had heads redone and belts. - this is no doubt another legacy issue with a troubled independent who did the head work.).

And while searching for the oil leak, the right hand headers are now filthy with cauterized oil - any hints for cleaning once accessible?

Also, oil filters are leaking like sieves - assume they weren't properly torqued, which I know is specific for the V12's.

Thanks as always for your insights. Love this beast and you've helped bring it to 100% forum!

I still do bad things. I glue my gaskets and there are no leaks! I only use the ferrari gaskets with the red gasket stuff on them too.

Gee the car has stared its own corrosion prevention program :)

Dont assume the cam gasket cover bolts are at the correct torque. not all tecs are going to use a torque wrench.
If it were me Id crack the bolts and re-torque. Gaskets depending on the material will have a tendency to squash and need nipping up.

As for cleaning the headers or do you mean the heat shields?

And a further note if I may, the engine mounts need to updated to the 575 mounts.

Maybe it's just the photo, but the valve cover bolts look loose, very loose. You can see the wave washer is not flattened, and it looks like there is a mm or so gap between the washer and the bolt head.

Yes, 4 of the Allen bolts were not proper torque - a gift clearly from the tech. Even after tightening properly, there is still a leak mid cover - assuming the gasket is ruined after being so soaked and heated so have ordered another.

Engine mounts were replaced to 575's when head work completed.

Glad that was a simple fix, the oil will squeeze out for a while now its been tightened, the engineering fix is termed a "rag spanner" and degreaser just wipe it and eventually it will stop weeping.

I now realize the picture of the engine mount is looking from the bottom up

Wow - love it - you're absolutely right. Came out tonite - ran it for 20 min - during the time since tightening the gasket seems to have dried and the smoke cleared once the excess was burned off. Thanks for the tip!

Meanwhile is the gasket ruined and should I have replaced soon? (On order)

The gasket has oil in it but with out knowing the composition of the gasket its hard to tell.
If it were me I would just keep and eye on it. If the gasket starts to actually squeeze out and protrude then get something done, other wise next service and ask for a discount!

I've seen the Ferrari factory engine builders leave lots more important stuff loose.

One was a brand new 360. About 10 miles after I did the PDI the motor blew up.

    No one is perfect.
