simply put, one of the best-run, most customer-focused consumer retailers in the USA. Great company.

Did I take my exotics there? No, my dealer handled those tire changes for me (and they were always happy to accept drop-shipments from tire rack, so I got great prices).

But all my dailies, SUVs, Trucks go to Discount Tire when I live near one.

So I was at Walmart earlier today and back in the tire/lube section there was was a car whipping around the lot, causing the tires to squeal a bit until it slammed on the brakes in a spot near there and out got one of the Walmart tire changer boys...driving a customer's car like an idiot. I can't stand people.

Yeah, that would have been an easy solution. But I spent quite a bit of time showing them how to operate the car and then answering questions about the car in general. I forgot to mention the wheels were directional. I guess that's on me

Maybe, maybe not - it's so hard to know what a place or person's competence level is these days, so the less things left to chance, the better (sorry if I implied it was just your shortfall). It sounds like most people have had surprisingly decent experiences at discount tire, and I know some dealers charge crazy $ for tires and some independents don't have alignment racks or want anything to do with them. I'd just chalk it up to a lesson learned for next time.

Ended up having a nice visit today. They actually had another Diablo in last week so they confirmed tire sizes and lift plan, and while I was there a Huracan stopped in, so they are not strangers to high end cars.

I just picked up another set they mounted for me (new wheels not from Discount Tire). They did a great job, not a scratch and a nice balance with very minimal weights used.

I used discount tire to get new rear Pilot Sport 4s tires installed on my M3. Gave them the car and about an hour later they were done.

I was about the drive away but decided to get out and take a look at the tires since I was excited for the upgrade. Took one quick look and immediately noticed they put on Pilot Sport A/S 3. Showed the manager and he noticed as soon as he was 15ft away. Thankfully they were able to resolve quickly but I was a little worried since at the time the 4S in my size was hard to find and typically backordered.

@DaveTheWav3 so I should definitely heed my own advice... Took an old Marauder I have to an independent version of Tire Discount to do an oil change and check out a few things I noticed. Figured bc the car it's based on is so common, wouldn't have any issues. Pick it up this evening and get about a half mile down the road and the traction control light starts flashing and once I got under 25 mph, it wouldn't stop flashing or let me go any faster - so I tested a few things, then decided to limp it back to the shop.

Get picked up, get home, and immediately thought of this thread as I walked inside - "I wonder if they put the back tires on the front when they rotated them?" Drove by to check and sure enough, they did exactly that. Seems so obvious in hindsight, bc the rear tire wall is at least 2 inches taller than the fronts, so looks really silly with the fat one on the front and low profile on the back. A little communication could've gone a long way indeed, lol
